Bawburgh Bridge Club

July  Newsletter.

We issue these news letters periodically to summarize upcoming events and the news from our committee meetings.

This newsletter is an interim and brief newsletter dealing with immediate issues that need to be communicated. It is being sent to all members by email. It will be displayed on the club Notice Board.

A fuller communication of our plans should be available in the early autumn, following a careful study of all the results of the questionnaire and the completion of the committee's investigation into development options open to the club.

Member Questionnaire.

Thank you all for participating in this procedure. We have had replies from just about two thirds of our membership which we regard as very satisfactory.
The immediate requirement was to establish your views on the second day.  Wednesday received three times as many votes as any other day. Accordingly we will resume the Wednesday sessions on 6th September 2006 and offer a balanced club program for these days including a separate Xmas party.
You have told us that on average you want to play at BBC in the afternoons 1.3 times a week. If  those who prefer Wednesdays turn out on this day we should succeed in reducing the pressure on Thursdays quite a bit. The sixteen tables we experienced on 13th July, on one of the nicest summer days,  was a bit ominous for the autumn.

Club Card.
We are now in a position to produce next year's club card. It should be out in July. It will be a booklet rather than a folded card and will contain a complete list of members and details of the club program for the two days. For the period up to Xmas the Wednesday sessions will commence with a single competition comprising a handicapped and un-handicapped  ladder.  After Xmas we will introduce further competitions making use of the handicaps built up in the autumn period.

Next Bridge Day.
This will take place on August 31st 2006 and will take the usual format  commencing at 10.30 am.   Whilst our last two special events were over subscribed,  we found that the system by which members could put down their names and purchase their tickets closer to the event resulted in a good number of last minute cancellations and a lot of  uncertainty and shuffling of the waiting list in the week before the events.
For the August event our procedure will be to reserve places only for those who purchase tickets, from the Treasurer, Janet Stenson  (01603 507442)  or our Hospitality Manager Jan Hubbard (01603 742 933), either   at club meetings or by post from  Janet Stenson, 58 Mount Pleasant, Norwich NR22DQ  or Jan Hubbard,  Hillside, Stocks Hill, Bawburgh
