About The Band
We are Nervous System

...and we're here to kick the
asses of every band that gets in our way!
Nervous System has five members. And five
musicians.
Stu, the cool-as-fuck guitarist
Tim, the overzealous and
overemotional drummer
TomO, the sensible electronic wiz
Mark, the phat bassist
TomP, the overexcitable vocalist
We formed the band while studying at Manchester University in October 1998, and have since been striving to create the most individual and diverse range of styles within ourselves as is humanely possible. Combining individual members' influences as far-reaching as Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, Frank Zappa, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Iron Maiden and Sonic The Hedgehog has proved a difficult but attainable task, and our current material reflects this convergence of styles.
The massive range of styles and influences we draw from leaves all our material with only one thing in common - it is unmistakeably Nervous System.
We're complex, we're simple; we're heavy, we're light; we're self-parodical, we're emotional; we're humourous, we're pretentious. We do not adhere to any genre, so we invented one: SUPER-SPAZZ-METAL!

We spend a lot of time arguing which direction each song will be heading towards, constantly pulling each section this way and that, adding more all the time, until we come out with something that sounds nothing like anything we wanted, but still sounds cool.
And this is our most prolific songwriting
premise:
If it sounds cool, we'll do it.
We enjoy playing live, we enjoying playing to ourselves, we enjoy just playing. Period.
