Update written by Keith Garrity Latest Results Game 1 Hazel Grove 2 - Rose Hill 2 Game 2 Hazel Grove 8 Rose Hill 5 The first fixture for the under 8's in 2004 almost didn't happen due to the bad weather, but thanks to the parents and Hazel Grove players, a make shift pitch was marked out and cleared to enable the game to go ahead. The first game was a very tight affair with both teams playing some impressive football, with Hazel Grove particularly passing the ball well in poor conditions. Joe put Hazel Grove in front twice with 2 good goals, but unfortunately Rose Hill drew level. The whole team played well with Scotty and Greg playing well in new positions on the left wing and central midfield respectively and a very impressive display by Luke on the right wing with some good tackling and passing. The defence did well with Tom and George N protecting Macauley in goals The second game was a far more one sided affair with Hazel Grove in total command with Benny and Mikey running the game, with impressive goals from Benny and also George B. Little Ben did well in a new left wing position for him, and the defensive run by Lewis with Harry G in support .Special mentions go to Harry, James and Michael who all made there debut for Hazel Grove with Harry doing a good job in goal. Josh Adam and Alex all made appearances in both games adding to their match experience. All the players deserved and got congratualted on a much improved all round performance, in the way they played their games, with plenty of passing, movement and communication. All the recent training seems to be paying off and credit goes to the players for putiing it into action. Finally a big thankyou from me, to all the parents who helped prepare the pitch and to Steve for his excellent refereeing. Next match Stockport Junior Blues - Home Torkington Park 15th Feb Keith |
