The 4th and Final Lincs League match took place for the first time on the beach at Skegness, and pride of place must go to Under 13 Boy, Tom Soady. Tom has won two of the previous meetings in the league and with the best three results counting Tom was determined to win the league undefeated. Tom was challenged throughout the race by an athlete from the Nene Valley club but it all boiled down to Tom’s determination that won the race. Tom was certainly pleased with himself and hopes that he is able to keep up the good form with all the big races just around the corner. Also in this race was Royce Coates who an excellent change of speed at to finish the race in 18th place. For the record, Royce was placed 16th overall in the league.

Keeping with the Boys, in Under 15 Boys Liam Clapham had another excellent race in finishing third over the 4084m distance. Unfortunately, for Liam he had only competed in two of the four meetings so was ineligible for an individual medal. The same befell Fred & James Hudson in the Under 17 men and junior men age categories respectively. Fred finished 8th, which was quite surprising considering he has done little training of late. James finished 5th junior and 29th overall in the combined Junior/senior/veteran mens race.

In the combined Under 11 Girls and Boys race saw William Soady have his best race of the season so far in finishing 3rd boy and 6th overall.  Jodie Strachan was also in this race and she finished an excellent 13th girl, 22nd overall.

Moving on to the Under 13 Girls Sarah Davey was another in the running for an individual award, and Sarah got her rewards in finishing 4th in the race, which was even more remarkable considering she had injured a muscle in her leg in training, and gaining 3rd overall individually. Also in this age group is Hayley Strachan who seems to be peaking just at the right time in finishing in 10th place. Hayley finished in 12th place overall just one place ahead of Hannah Dobbs who finished in 16th place. These three combined for a team place of second on the day but was just not quite good enough for a team award overall, missing out on third place by just three points.

In the Under 15 Girls was another success for Louise Yorston who finished the race in 3rd place and 2nd overall. Also we saw Lisa Holness finish in 7th place which gained her 6th place overall. Unfortunately, the team was not complete for the first time this season because they were on course to collect a team medal.

Finally in the combined Junior/Senior/Veteran Women’s race saw Lauren Harpham have a best race of the season to finish in 6th place overall and 2nd Junior home this earned her 3rd place overall in the league. In addition, Lesley Parry returned from injury to compete and finished a well deserved 15th, Lisa Stafford and Carol Hall made up the team in finishing 18th and 23rd respectively. The team was placed fourth on the day.
