Cleethorpes Athletic club took a small group of the athletes to Lincoln's West Common on Sunday to compete in the 2nd meeting of the Lincs League. Top performer must go to Under 13 Boys Tom Soady. Tom won the first Lincs league meeting and was hoping for a repeat performance. Tom did just that with 300m to go to the finish he was about 40-50 metres behind in second place, but through hard work and determination he closed the deficit and take first place. Tom is now out in front in the league and he is hoping for a similar result in the final round of the league in the New Year. Also in this age group, we must not forget Royce Coates who finished a hard earned 22nd place. Royce should be pleased with his performance considering he is at the bottom end of his age group.

Keeping with the boys was a very pleasing performance from Liam Clapham in the Under 15 Boys who finished a very lofty 2nd. It is very pleasing to see Liam perform like he did with English Schools his target this year.

In the combined under 11's race was William Soady who performed admirably to finish in 12th place overall. Also Cleethorpes had Bethany Myers competing for only the 2nd time finishing in a well deserved 16th place overall.

The Under 13 Girls were hoping for a team placing and they finished in 4th place, finishing with the same amount of points as the 3rd placed team but they had a higher placed 3rd counter. Sarah Davey again leading the way with 3rd place, which should stand her in good stead for individual honours, Sarah was ably supported by Hannah Dobbs who finished 13th in what was an improved performance than her last outing and Haley Strachan who finished in 15th. Haley was feeling a little tired from her exertions on Saturday in the Schools race.

Moving onto the Under 15 Girls were Louise Yorston, Lisa Holness and Gemma Holmes these three finished 2nd, 8th and 15th but unfortunately do not know were they were placed as a team at the time of print. Louise is certainly hopeful of individual honours having won the last meeting and with Lisa and Gemma they are hopeful of a team medal come the New Year.

Finally in the combined Junior, Senior and Veteran women's race we had three athletes in the shape of Lauren Harpham, who was not 100% fit, the first appearance of the season for Lesley Parry and the newly married Carol Edwards. These three were placed 25th, 12th and 28th respectively.

Please note the County Championships at Scunthorpe's Quibell Park on the 14th December 2003 is the next race on the agenda.
