CLEETHORPES & DISTRICT ATHLETIC CLUB |
|
Cleethorpes Athletic Club took a small squad of cross-country runners over the river to compete in Kingston-upon-Hull’s open cross-country meeting at Bishop Burton Agricultural College. On a day when athletes were unavailable for one reason or other, Cleethorpes athletes found the course very tough going, and the pick of the Cleethorpes Athletes’ was Under 13 Boy, Tom Soady. Tom at the moment is in the form of his life finishing in the top three yet again this time 2nd only eight seconds behind the eventual winner. Tom’s brother William was the only Clee representative in the Under 11 Boys race. William finished the 1800m course in an excellent 9th place. Onto the Under 13 girls in the biggest field of the day saw Hayley Strachan and Hannah Dobbs finish the 2500m course in 18th and 19th places, in times of 9min 48secs and 9mins 49secs. In the Under 15 Boys race saw Liam Clapham compete in his first cross-country of the season, Liam has just moved up to this age group and he should be well pleased with his 9th place less than a minute behind the winner. The under 15 girls saw the familiar faces of Louise Yorston, Lisa Holness and Gemma Holmes. These three really struggled with the early pace in what was a quality field. Louise eventually finished 9th with Lisa in 19th and Gemma in 22nd. In the Under 17 men saw the lone figure of Tom Shaw, in what was a very small field Tom finished a impressive 8th place. The final athlete competing for Cleethorpes was Carol Edwards in the combined Junior/Senior/Veteran ladies race. This was Carols first race for some time now and she was really pleased with her performance in finishing in 25th place. Please note the next race is the Lincs League meeting at Lincoln’s West Common on Sunday 30th November. |
