After part-time contracting with PSL, I was offered a permanent job. I enjoyed the small company atmosphere, so negotiated an average 30hr week, leaving time to continue my involvement at Thomas Miller & Co. and spend time with my children..
The project work at PSL included 3 separate Y2K Acumen conversions with enhancements. Bespoke software development in VB 5 front-ending Oracle Express server
... and then ...
In late '98 the directors created Net Market Places Ltd. (NMPL.COM), and invested in design and prototyping of a proposed B2B e-commerce system, which then needed venture capital. I developed the prototype/demonstrator in VB5. HTML, Javascript and somewhat ahead of its time specified all data exchange (Transport Contract tenders) in XML.
I therefore had a good, current knowledge of the e-commerce revolution, the tools available, and the technology to build Web Sites, including IIS, Oracle 9i, a little Java and and lots of Java script.
Unfortunately in late 1999, PSL / NMPL cash flow problems necessitated redundancy.
Later NMPL received venture capital, and created Translogistica.
