Contracting 1996-1997

Self-employed and through my company BJC Consulting Ltd., I undertook many part-time and overlapping consultancy contracts and interim management roles, primarily at Phobos, Sema, and Thomas Miller & Co.

At Phobos I automated the conversion of ACUMEN applications from an IBM Mainframe VM/CMS to MVS/TSO/SPF environment.

At Sema I was involved in technical recruitment (50 programmers in 3 months) and some smaller consulting roles including software strategy setting, hardware asset usage evaluation and subsequent 1997 budget preparation.

At Thomas Miller & Co. I led the specification and implementation of an HP Openview based network mananagement system in a varied LAN/WAN environment. Towards the end of the project, during a management shuffle, I took on Interim management of the whole networking team of 10.
