A succession of short assignments within the Telecoms Dept. included:
- IP address space usage plans,
- DNS server physical architecture (QIP, 50+ servers),
- Plan and manage the removal of obsolete WAN protocols.
- Configuration and Administration of the migration from Gauntlet to PIX firewalls.
- Build and deployment of complete Mail, Web and FTP gateways.
- Cisco CSPM for PIX and IDS, and some Router configuration changes.
- Build and maintain Internet DNS and Squid proxy on Linux.
was mixed with:
- Lots of ad hoc troubleshooting especially of high volume eMail gateways and remote Web
applications via Web Proxy gateways.
- Day to day maintenance of Business Partner firewall connections.

An interesting contract role with the rapidly expanding @Software plc, main
contractor to @UK plc. In 2 months I managed the office and phone switch expansion
and new LAN wiring; NT and DNS admin and the RIPE Hostmaster role (@Software is also
an ISP and LIR) and found time for SQL server database design, VB 6 programming for IIS
and DNS configuration.
