Gunner FRANK ERNEST SCURRAH.

20388, 41st Battery, 42nd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.

who died, aged 21, on the 17th April 1918.

Son of Charles and Charlotte Scurrah of 17 William St, North Skelton, Skelton-in-Cleveland, Yorks.



Pernes British Cemetery.

The 42nd Brigade was part of the 3rd Division which took part in most of the major Battles of the War.
In the spring of 1918 the Germans reinforced by divisions moved from the Eastern front launched a series of offensives against what they thought were exhausted British lines.
Frank lost his life during this time - the Second Battle of the Somme.


Pernes-en-Artois where he is buried, is a small town on the main road from Lillers to St Pol.
The British Cemetery is nearly one kilometre west of the town on the road to Sains-les-Pernes.
