"The Small Book"
Every soldier in the British Army was issued with a copy of this book. It included his full description on Attestation;
particulars of Service; his next of kin and details of marriage and children; a form to make a will; instructions for
guard duty, saluting Officers, cleaning, cooking, going on leave etc.
