Shirley Ray,CBA

Shirley Ray is a third generation magician, a versatile and experienced performer. She is also one of the worlds leading balloon figure artists. 

Shirley Ray is one of the top elite instructors teaching at balloon conventions around the world. She was born in Edinburgh and brought up in the world of magic tricks.

Shirley has won a number of prestigious awards, including the Scottish Shield for magic.

Whilst teaching in Phoenix, Arizona in 2007, Shirley was awarded “Twister of the Year” given for Balloon Excellence and promoting the art of balloon twisting through her abilities, innovations and quality of character.

She has designed a great many original balloon figures and developed a range from simple, very commercial pieces to real masterworks of art with tens of balloons.

MAGICAL HISTORY

Shirley Ray is a third generation magician following in the footsteps of her Mother ( Ray Silver ), Father ( Johnny Neptune ) and Grandfather ( Jack Silver ).  She was brought up in the world of magic and has performed magic from an early age.

CARTOUCHE

While lecturing in the Netherlands in 2000 for “Twister” ( An International Balloon Modelling Society ) Shirley and Dave formed what was to become a lasting friendship and business relationship with Guido Claassen. In 2001, Guido produced Shirley’s first Balloon modelling DVD/Video under the Cartouche label. They have now produced four DVD’s.

DIAMOND STORM

While lecturing at Diamond Jam in 2006, making her USA debut, Shirley recorded her first DVD with Ed and Sally Chee under the Diamond Storm label entitled "Special Occasions". ( Released February 2007 ). In 2008 Shirley released her second DVD "Something For All Occasions" and her third DVD Cars & Characters was released in February 2009

Shirley and Dave met at the IBM convention in 1995 and were married at Linton Springs, Sicklinghall, Wetherby on November 10th 2000

All about Dave........

(Dave Cass DPLM, GCLCM)

 

Dave studied Classical Piano up to Grade 8 standard and then attended Leeds Music College where he gained a First Class Diploma in Jazz and Light Music in 1978. He is experienced in Dance Band, Pop, Jazz, Country and modern experimental music, having also provided the musical backing whilst working with Cilla Black, Kiki Dee, Rod Argent, Bob Monkhouse, Ted Rogers, Joanna Lumley and many other well known personalities.

Dave has written over 150 TV jingles for YTV, Tyne Tees, Granada, Border and Central TV with local and National firms including Prudential Assurance Co., Y.E.B., BMX Bikes, Crockatt Cleaners, Wigfalls, Foto Processsing, Oxford Mail Newspaper and many Building Societies and Banks.

Dave was also awarded a Gold Disk for work with the Chart topping band "Jive Bunny" who had three consecutive No.1 hits in the Charts. He has also had released over 150 CDs in the Easy Listening market and was the major contributor to the Sony Music Library.

Dave also reached no.3 in the Easy Listening Charts as Lance Gambit with the release of Cocktail 2000 - todays music played in a Cocktail “Lounge Lizard” style.

Dave is an established arranger for small bands and orchestras. He has taught Piano, Synthesizer, Organ, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Arranging, Transcribing and Composing but also plays Trumpet ( Grade 8 ) together with all the standard instruments in the orchestra.

He is a respected session musician and spends much time in recording studios.

Dave and Shirley work together at Balloon Parade. They also provide music and magical themed entertainment packages.
