Meet our Pastor

Hello there! My name is Billy Houston, The new pastor at Mountpottinger Baptist. I wanted to introduce myself so we wouldn’t be strangers. A few things you should know about me first.

I’ll be 45 on my next birthday ( I can hardly believe I’ve just admitted that! Promise you won’t tell anyone else! ).
I’m married to Lynne ( over 22 years - ahhh!!! Help!!), and I have two children, Lindsay (14 years ) and Timothy ( 12 years) who attend Grosvenor Grammer School. We live at 29 Montgomery Chase, off the Montgomery Road and you can
contact me at 02890 790998 if you ever need my help. I’m available any time for those in need.
I’m interested in all kinds of sport, especially football and rugby, but I also like to play golf, pool, snooker and a few other things besides. I’ve been pastor of three other churches before coming to Mountpottinger ( two Baptist Churches in the Province, Ballygomartin in West Belfast and Carr outside Carryduff, and an Independent Baptist church in Staffordshire, England). I’m very much looking forward to the time with you here in East Belfast. My Personal history began in Garnaville, Knocknagoney, then Holywood, and back to East Belfast when I married. My wife and I lived in Woodcote Avenue ( off the Bloomfield and Beersbridge Roads) for ten very happy years beginning to rear both our children there. This part of the world is home for us and with all the political changes of recent years we sense a new day dawning. There is so much potential for good in the days that lie ahead.

But our future is only as good as we make it with the opportunities God gives us, and we at Mountpottinger intend to add to the possibilities for everyone around us. We’d like to invite you to church where you will be most welcome and we also have meeting during the week for children and youth. Please make use of these if you have children and you’d like them to learn about the things of God. Lastly could I ask you to do me a big favour? Would you come and make yourself known to us at the church or when we’re on your doorstep? How can we help you if we don’t know you? If your struggling, like many others in these days, perhaps you’d like someone to talk to. Don’t hesitate to contact me privately or come along to our services on Sundays. I’d be delighted to meet you and offer you assistance.

“ A truthful witness saves lives” ( Proverbs 14:25a N.I.V) We aim to save lives for time and for eternity by encouraging you to hear, believe, and live for Christ. Our witness is to His truth, what Jesus said and did while on this earth, His death and resurrection our only hope of salvation. God sent Him, we present him, and I trust you will not resent Him.
God bless you all.
Desiring to be your friend,
Billy Houston (pastor).

( for more truth about Jesus read John’s Gospel in the New Testament, and if you don’t have a bible let us know and we’ll be glad to supply one).
