Harp Sailing School is a RYA recognized Training Centre

Training is done in RS Visions, The Vision is a modern boat fitted with Asymmetric spinnaker (not that you use the spinnaker on level 1 or 2 or Seamanship courses. The mainsails of each boat have two rows of slab reefing so that we can sail in most winds, the boats are fully insured. Each boat will have two trainees + a qualified RYA instructor.
You will learn the rudiments of sailing, launching and recovery of boats, the names of the various ropes and sails. You will learn how to rig a boat, sail setting techniques, Helming and boat safety to RYA standards.
Fees

The two full day course for Level 1, 2 or Seamanship will cost £110 if you intend joining the club, non-members £180,
If you are not sure about joining the club you can pay the non-members price and then if you decide to join us get £70 off the membership fee.The fees are payable in advance, so it is important that when you arrange your dates that you are able to do the two consecutive Sundays or the stated dates of the course (we do not run courses over bank holidays). Buoyancy aids are provided,

A safety boat will be on standby throughout the course

At the end of the course providing you have made satisfactory progress you will be awarded a RYA Level 1 certificate.
You will then be able to take out the Wembley club boats with the New Members Club (providing the winds are light) and continue to gain more experience, there are always club members who will be willing to advise you and help you. We have 14 club boats.
( See we sailed the Fastnet)

The clubs sailing dinghies are fully insured and maintained by the club and are free to use by club members. You can join in the Sunday morning racing or just potter. Many of the Wembley members are looking for crews to sail in the races, so this could be a good opportunity to gain fast track experience.

To book a course, email Brian Whyte on training@wembleysailingclub.co.uk or telephone 01442 399188
Applicants who intend joining the club get priority on course places, also if for any valid reason you cannot complete the course or not pass, club members get free places on a subsequent course to complete/pass the course.

To further your sailing expertise, why not go on to take the RYA level 2 and Seamanship courses
For those interested in adding power boat skills, then you can take the RYA Power 2 course £95 for members and then the Safety Boat course free to members.
Power boat courses only available to club members.

The RS Vision
Is the ideal boat for training, it is a stable boat, the cockpit is large enough for two trainees and the instructor.

The boat is fitted with the Gnav kicker system leaving the cockpit clear
The boat is great to learn to sail in.
Do come and learn to sail with us.
We purchased 6 new boats in 2006.

For more photos of the Vision ....click here

This could be you taking the level 1 course, by lunchtime on the second day, you and your fellow trainee should be able to sail without the instructor, providing that the winds are light. The instructor will be keeping an eye on you from the training boat
