Club boats
These currently comprise five GP14s, one Firefly, one RS Vision, one RS 200 and six Lasers. Those wishing to use the club RS 200 should contact the RS 200 class captain, Julian Bradley.

Safety
If you own your own boat It is recommended you sail when the club is open ie. Sundays and Wednesday evenings in summer. Unless conditions are well within your capabilities, you are recommended to consult a committee member or experienced sailor before going afloat.

Club Boats
You must wear a buoyancy aid when afloat, you must use a masthead float provided on the club boats (not Lasers)
Club boats may only be used when a Wembley SC rescue boat is manned and on the water

Sailing during racing
If you are not racing, please keep well clear of racing boats and their wind. If possible do not sail on the course, and if there is no alternative, keep well away from the buoys in use, as these areas become congested with boats rounding. If in doubt, please ask before going afloat.

After sailing
Before tumbling into the shower / bar, please ensure any club boat you have been using is properly put away!

Crewing
If you are interested in crewing in club races please talk to David, or get in touch with the relevant class captain (click on Club Contacts on the left for a list of class captains and other committee members).
We run a crews register, if you wish to crew in a particular class then email training@wembleysailingclub.co.uk and state your preferences give your telephone number and your name will be added to the list, the crews register is located in the club members pages.
The main racing classes are Merlin Rocket, MRX, RS 200 and Laser (single-handed). The club also races GP14s and Fireflies, We are hoping to get the RS Vision class racing on the Harp

Wembley Sailing Club
...........................New Members Club
Introduction
The New Members Club (NMC) was set up to bridge the gap between the courses run by the Harp Sailing School and club racing activities, and to enable beginners and new members to feel part of the club and to meet other members.

The NMC is aimed at adults with basic sailing skills (RYA Level 1 or thereabouts) and runs group sessions on Sunday afternoons from April to early October (see below for dates). Some sessions are also run during the winter months.

Organisation
The NMC is run by Wembley Sailing Club (WSC) and organised by David Evans. The NMC uses the facilities and equipment, including club boats, belonging to WSC. Sessions are open to all WSC members of the above standard, and are free.

Sessions
The sessions normally start at 2.30 pm. You are asked to arrive half an hour beforehand to change for sailing and rig boats (if you know how!)
Sessions usually comprise a briefing ashore followed by short races round a triangular course, with the alternative of free sailing.
Advice and help is provided on and off the water as required.
After the session there is an informal debriefing and discussion in the club bar.
If conditions are not suitable for sailing, we will run a shorebased session.
From October through to March, the New Members Club runs a Winter sessions, members wanting to take part should be suitably clad with either a Wetsuilt or Dry Suit, with Neoprene sailing boots.

Suitable clothing can be found at the Welsh Harp Boat Shop which is situated in West Hendon click here for details
