INCLEMENT WEATHER: It is possible that weather conditions may be such that it would be safer to stay at home. If on the morning of the walk you are unsure about the advisability of driving, please telephone the Leader or Organiser before 9.00 am, as it is possible that the walk may be cancelled.

START TIMES AND LUNCHES: All walks on this list start at 10.00 am from the specified Public House. If you require Lunch please arrive by 9.45 am to order.

WALK: Heydon, Great Chishill, Icknield Way, Heydon

LEADER: Philip Rundle

CAR PARK: King William IV Pub in Heydon

Distance: 5.0 miles

Directions to Start: From Cambridge take the A10 to Royston. At Royston centre turn left on to the B1039 (signposted Barley). Continue on the B1039 past the windmill to Great Chishill. At the church turn left to Heydon and the pub is on the right as you enter the village.

Walk: From the pub turn left and walk to Great Chishill. Before the centre of the village take the footpath on the right (marked Icknield Way) to New Buildings Farm and continue to a T junction. Turn right here (passing golf course on the left) and just over 1/2 mile turn right along Icknield Way path over the brow of the hill into Heydon, Turn right at the road and continue on the pavement until the pub is reached on your left.

WALK: Longstowe, Hayley Wood (Wildlife Trust) Longstowe

LEADER: Jane Landucci

CAR PARK: The Red House, Longstowe

Distance: 6.0 miles complete or 2 miles for the shortened version.

Directions to Start: Take the A605 to the roundabout past Wimpole. Turn right up to the A1198 for appprox. 2 miles to the Red House pub on the left. For those wishing to do the shortened version continue on and turn left next left at the Longstowe crossroads along the B1046. Park opposite the water tower and then walk down Hayley Lane to meet the rest of the group at the main entrance to Hayley Wood at 10.30 to 10.40 am

Walk: Take the footpath from the back of the pub following for a mile then turn left at the byway until Hayley Wood (Wildlife Trust) is reached, where the short walk option will join us. Take the main ride path straight through the wood where there are information boards and a break will be negotiated for those wishing to explore the many paths. (Binoculars would be useful for keen birdwatchers). After the break proceed along the main road out of the wood and turn left. A 100 yards round the bend a memorial is reached for those 7 members of the air squadron who crashed at this spot on 16 December 1943. Retrace steps right and then follow the path on the outer edge of the wood round to the west entrance.Follow this path down and back to the main entrance for those who are taking the shortened version and the rest will retrace the byway back to the Red House where we will all meet up for lunch.

WALK: Reach, Devils Dyke, Swaffham Prior, Reach

CAR PARK:The Dyke End Public House

Distance: 5.5 miles

Directions to Start: Take the A.1393 from Cambridge to Stow-cum-Quy interchange, then take the B.1102 to Swaffham Bulbeck and Swaffham Prior. On the outskirts of the village turn left from the main road into the village and continue to Reach.

Walk: From the pub turn left and after a short distance climb on to the Devil's Dyke. Continue along the Dyke after crossing the B.1102 until a waymarked path to the right is reached. Take this path,going diagonally across two large fields to the B.1102 at Swaffham Prior. Cross directly over and turn right at the T junction into the High Street. Soon after the end of the village turn left along Barston Drove, the track becomes a metalled road leading to Reach. On entering Reach turn left to the old wharf on the lode and continue to the public house.

WALK: Saxon Street, Woodditton, Saxon Street.

LEADER: Philip Rundle

CAR PARK: The Reindeer Public House at Saxon Street.

Distance: 5.5 miles.

Directions to Start: From Cambridge take the A.1303 towards Newmarket. At the Stetchworth roundabout turn left on to the A.1304 to Newmarket. On entering Newmarket turn right on to the B.1061. After a short distance when the B.1061 bears right, continue straight for about 2 miles. At the crossroads turn left and after 1 mile, at a crossroads turn right to Saxon Street.

WALK: Whittlesford, Sawston, Whittlesford

LEADER: Philip Rundle

CAR PARK: "The Bees in the Wall", Pub Whittlesford.

Distance: 4 miles

Directions to Start: Leave Cambridge by Trumpington Road. At Trumpington turn left on to the A.1301 (signposted The Shelfords). At Great Shelford turn right at the Post Office just after the pedestrian crossing. Go past the church and over two bridges. Then turn left (signposted Whittlesford). The pub is on the left as you enter the village.
