Long Compton
Earl of Northampton's rent roll of 1750 names:
John Toms, sons William 11 and John 7. A cottage, garden and piece of ground on the waste. Occupied by Thomas Hands (John and his family living in Hook Norton?).
Widow Toms (his mother?). A cottage on the waste.
Thomas Toms 50, wife Hannah 40, son Richard 20. A cottage and small garden.
There are two entries for a Richard Tims, possibly two separate people? One may be Richard Toms, the entry for John Toms has certainly been amended by the writer from Tims. There are also mentions of a Benjamin Tims and a William Tims.
