Rules of the Club
The D.C.S.A.C will use a catch and release system to record the fish
caught. Weighing fish on the beach can be tricky at the best times and
almost impossible on the worst. Because of this I have decided the club will
use a measuring system to record the fish caught.
The system is simple, all fish will be measured on the beach from mouth
to tip of tail and recorded to the nearest 0.5 CM on the each members catch
form, the fish can then be returned to the sea alive *.
I have decided that the only way to make this practical is that all
members on the beach will be allowed to measure and record, however no
member is allowed to record his/her own catch. I hope by allowing
everyone to record it will stop members having to walk miles to get there
fish recorded. All members will need to carry a tape measure for this
purpose.
On catching a fish, the angler must take the fish and his/her
catch form to any other member on the beach where he/she can measure,
record and sign the catch, each catch must be signed for. This will mean
that each angler will have to fish near to at least one other member in
order to get their fish recorded. As with all fishing clubs, trust is
the key issue here. Any member who is found to be deliberately recording
fish incorrectly or recording there own catch will be removed from the
club.
All fish recorded must be at least the size as defined by the N.F.S.A Minimum
size limits. Any fish recorded below this size will not be included in the
results.
I realise that measuring a fish is not as accurate as weighing, you could
for example have 2 fish of the same length, but your one could be a bit
fatter. This will probably happen, but remember everyone in the club are
fishing the same rules, the next fish you catch could be a bit thinner. In
general the length to weight ratio is fairly similar throughout the species
and the system is the same for everyone.
No more than 3 snoods to be used per angler, with a maximum of 2 rods per
person.
Eg: If a member only fishes with one rod, then he/she can have up to 3
snoods on that rod if he/she wishes. If a member wishes to fish with 2 rods
he/she could have 2 snoods on one rod and 1 snood on the other, or 1 snood
on each rod. (no more than 3 snoods in total)
In all cases above no more than 2 hooks can be used on any single snood.
No Feathers of any description , eg: Feathers, Hockey’s, Daylites
etc….
No Plugs
No Spinners
Beads, Sequins etc... are allowed.
Float fishing is allowed, however the 3 snood rule above still applies.
All members must sign in if they
wish to take part in the match. If
you don't manage to make the start time, please come and sign in with me on
the beach before fishing. Pool money will also be taken at the sign
in.( see optional pool)
Sign in times are 6.00 pm - 6.30 pm (for all
matches apart from July and August)
Sign in times for July and August are 7.00 pm -
7.30 pm
All anglers must stop fishing at the given match time and be back at the meeting point no later than 45 mins
after the end of each match, in order to hand in there catch totals. Anyone
arriving after that time will not be included in the league score for that
match, or the pool.
I must remind all members, sea angling from the shore
can be dangerous at times. Please treat the sea with the respect that it
deserves. The DCSAC does not carry insurance for any of it's members.
Therefore all members who fish, do so at there own risk.
* Any member who wishes to take fish home for the table are free to do
so, as long as they are above N.F.S.A minimum size limits.
The Optional Pool
There will be an optional pool for each match of
£2.00 per head. All money entered in pool will be used for the prize fund at end of each fixture. The pool is totally optional for each angler, the aim
is to add a bit of fun on the night of each competition. FUN is the key to the pool, if the money is to high the
competitions will become too serious, it is for that reason I intend to keep the pool
contributions low. The pool fund will be divided into 1,2 or 3 prizes,
depending on the attendance. If only one angler wins the pool he/she will take
the whole pool. In the event that we all blank, the pool
money will be returned to each participate.
The pool will be split as near as possible to this:
1st = 50% of pool 2nd =30% of
pool 3rd =20% of
pool (for 10 or more
anglers)
1st = 60% of pool 2nd = 40% of
pool (between 5 and 10 anglers, or only
2 winners)
1st= 100% of pool (For 5
or less anglers or only one winner)
Rules subject to discussion or change at any time............ Brian Terrey
In the event of my absence at any match, you can report to
Barry Webb who will take pool money and make sure all catch forms
are returned to myself.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
