I first started modelling when I was about twelve or so, back then it was Airfix plastic kits mostly of WWII aircraft.
Soon I moved onto KeilKraft balsa models of rubber-band powered aircraft. This led to building powered planes and my first was a control-line aircraft which flew for just a few minutes before a line snapped and it slammed into the gound.

My first r/c model was a trainer with two channel radio, this flew for about thirty seconds before taking a fatal dive.

At that point I gave up flying and moved to boats, recycling the radio from the aircraft to put into an electic powered launch.
I built numerous small electric powered craft before trying a larger i/c cruiser, none of which crashed, sank or suffered any other mishap.

Time marched on and the modelling bug was replaced by work, women and other things although I did have a very brief liaison with a helicopter which never got off the ground.

I revived the old hobby in 2003 and have since spent almost all my spare time on model boats.

HMAS Bathurst was my first 'scratch built' model and my first steam powered model.
I enjoyed building it but I'm not keen on 'grey' ships so I sold it to make space for other models.

Sealink's St Columba is my second 'scratch built' model, she took almost a year to build.
She is a much better example of my abilities and has won numerous awards including -
Best in Show, Sctratch built Workingboat at Blackpool 2005
Visitor's Favourite Powered boat at Fleetwood 2005

Sandra Too, another ferry, is a semi-scratch build on a fibreglass hull.

Egrete is a scratch built pusher tug and took about six months to build.

My next project is Sydney Express, a container ship - she is going to be huge at almost 8 feet in length.
I plan to document the complete bulid, very much as I did with St Columba.
