New
Ferry Farmers’ Market is held monthly at the Village Hall, every
second Saturday of the month through the year. It is one of the most popular
markets in the North of England and regularly attracts visitor
numbers exceeding 2000.
Farmers
Markets’ around the country are increasingly popular, but what makes
New Ferry Market special is that while most markets are run by
private businesses, producers and councils, this one is completely
run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community.
The
original idea emerged in 2002 from the New Ferry
Regeneration Action Group when it was suggested as a way of helping
to bring more people into the area.
It was
set up with three main aims:
-
to
help regenerate New Ferry
-
to
bring sustainable sources of food to the area
-
to
support small, local and regional producers
The
market always welcomes new volunteers, especially those who could
help set up the market on Saturday mornings. To find out more,
