Unfortunately they left the grass etc in a pretty poor way so the BLRA contacted Anglian Water to see what could be done to restore the grass to its former glory.

...The trouble with this is that, along with the guttering and downpipes, it all needs regular maintenance to stave off the problems of rot, rust, mould and insects - let alone keeping it looking smart and clean.  

...The job took three days and went without any hassle - the company made sure that no mess was left at the end of each day, and that alone took some doing!

...In the meantime there is a good service that runs along Ladybridge Drive and a bus stop is positioned close to the underpass that leads from Banbury Lane to Galane Close off Ladybridge.   It is further to walk though and the underpass can be a bit daunting at night and so I don't think this represents a long term solution.

The burglars got in through a kitchen window and stole numerous items including a car from the drive, so be careful and notify the police immediately of any suspicious activity.

Unfortunately our arguments about increased flood risk were countered at every juncture by The Environment Agency and the WNDC chose to hide behind their comments rather than listen to ours as they always do.   So they continue their record of never having turned down an application for housing development - lets hope they are disbanded soon as promised by the current coalition government.

Apparently it's all a bit of a mistake down at Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) Highways Department - they looked at some old drawings by mistake and thought Banbury Lane should be 40MPH instead of the old 30MPH we've all come to like - except those who believe 30MPH really means 55 to 60MPH, but that's another story!

...We will still have our own Committee and AGM etc as we do now, but we will also have an extra seat on the Parish Council (David Hugheston-Roberts is already a Parish Councillor).


The only downside I can see is that Upton is scheduled to become an extremely large Parish encompassing all new housing developments planned to extend to Kislingbury and Harpole (if they go ahead), but then we would still have our own Committee as an outlet for local issues.

Despite objections from the BLRA, the Nene Flood Prevention Alliance and a number of other residents, the West Northants Development Corporation (WNDC) have approved the plans and we appear to be running out of time now to prevent the work from going ahead. Also to David Hugheston-Roberts for his help as our County Councillor and BLRA committee member.   Whilst the issue will not go away, we await the results of the survey to site the mast beyond the canal bridge - whilst probably not ideal, it represents a far better solution than the original proposal.

...Some residents of Indmere Close, Samwell Way and Riverstone Way have probably already received correspondence about this, but I would urge as many of you as possible in all areas to submit an objection, the closing date for which is 28th September, and so we don't have a lot of time.


...We don't have much time to act on this one, so please consider the implications of siting the mast next to the children's play area and get those objections rolling as soon as you can!
