Bart Simpson's Guide to Life - Matt Groening (Swan Press)
Packed with full-colour pages, this book provides entertainment from the word go. The cover is satisfyingly hard, yet yielding under pressure. The taste of the coloured ink takes a little getting used to but after a few mouthfuls you'll be hooked. A good gnaw that's worth coming back to time and time again.

Book of the Damned - Charles Fort (John Brown Publishing)
What is the matter with John Brown Publishing? This is supposed to be the original book concerning strange phenomena, but they've decided to churn it out using foul-tasting glue to hold the pages together. The cheap, rough paper provides no solace. Definitely one to rip into pieces and leave strewn about the floor, rather than actually ingest.

Fundamentals of Abnormal Psychology [2nd edition] - Ronald J. Comer (Worth Freeman)
Comer's textbooks have a reputation for being difficult to get into and this one is no exception. The hardback cover is heavy and dense - it can take up to an hour of gnawing just to get at the pages inside! Those with patience will be rewarded by the glossy colour pages, which tear into easily edible strips with little effort.

Index shopping catalogue
These catalogues can be picked up in bulk, free, at any Index shopping outlet. And they're worth the carry home! The pages can be torn out with ease and have a pleasant, refreshing taste. Ripping one of these books to shreds is a great way to pass the time before sneakily taking a bite out of the curtains, or those oh-so-tasty wires that plug into the back of the computer.
