Only those who have accumulated lots of money are free to play in this version of democracy. Our company will withdraw our investment if we don't get our way. Possessions are the principal cultural aspiration and the surest route to personal happiness. Business is a good neighbour. They aren't children so much as what I like to call "evolving consumers". The central task is to stimulate greater desires and create new wants. What we need is strategies that will make people in large numbers into voracious, wasteful, compulsive consumers. Human worth should be measured in terms of productivity and wealth. Status and power are a reward for hard work. Free market globalisation benefits both producers and consumers, and constraints on globalisation should be eliminated. We are eager to enhance the corporation's image, increase product visibility and establish sympathetic consumer lifestyles. Our vast economic power and resources shapes public opinion without the target market being aware that it is happening. Moving production facilities to Asia has increased half-yearly figures by 32%. Corporate mergers will send executives' share options soaring while still giving the public the impression they have freedom of choice. You've got to reach kids throughout their day... in school, as they're shopping at the mall, or at the movies. You've got to become part of their social fabric. Even if we fail to sell a particular product, we sell consumerism itself by ceaselessly reiterating the idea that there is a product to solve each of life's problems. Not just to sell a particular product but to promote the interests and ideology of the corporate sponsors.
