I make two standard sizes of these solid Burr, or plain Oak boxes, medium (290mm x 180 x 95mm)and Large (310 x 210 x 120). They are "finger" jointed at the corners for strength. The hinges and latch are made from solid Oak with brass pins and They can be supplied with or without trays. They can be lined with aromatic "cigar box" Cedar or Florida Pencil Cedar and lined with blue, green or tan "suede effect" cotton velvet. Commissioned by a local church, This box was constructed to hold a communion set with its bottles, candle sticks, cup and silverware shown below. The box is constructed from English Cats Paw Oak with boxed corner joints and solid top and base. The interior is made from Aromatic Cuban Cedar. The padding is a rich blue cotton velvet. The two silver crosses inside the lid are from the bottle stoppers of the owners original communion set. Front view Hinge Detail Cross Catch Side View
A small brass pin (shown above, front view) pushes into place to lock the cross catch for safety.
