The Pedalboard
|
|
Just
before Christmas 2002 a rather dusty, old pedal board arrived which had
been lying unused in the workshop for some time. Sorry the picture is a bit
hazy! |

|
But
how do you make such an old pedalboard work with modern
"midi" keyboards? |
|
|
You will need some proximity switches and magnets as I bought from Active Switch and Sensor. See MC15-15AW.
And of course you may need to clean up (sandpaper and linseed oil useful, together with a little vaseline) and refelt (to stop it clattering).
I
sawed off the paler wooden parts you can see on the tops of
the ends of the pedals
Then
I fixed the magnets on the ends where you can
see the old red felt. I needed to
put some extra wood on the end of some pedals to match dimensions to the ones you
can see in the foreground.
But then the big challenge
was to wire the actual
switches into a midi board. See
here how I did this.
If you can't locate a pedal board in this way then you could buy one from (and this would save you all the wiring up!)
