This is the boring bitI am an engineer, and run a one man business, Chapmore Controls Ltd., which is a distributor and system integrator for motion control equipment (electric motors, drives etc.). To help make ends meet I also undertake consultancy work - particularly related to the technical aspects of motor drives and marketing of motion products in Europe.
I normally cycle alone though I occasionally cycle with the local club - Northampton CTC. I cycle very regularly in the summer - 15 to 20 miles 3 or 4 evenings a week (work permitting) and longer (up to about 50 miles) on Saturdays and Sundays. (Sometimes I will also declare Friday a POETS day at about 4 pm and go for a longer ride. (POETS = Piss Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday). In the winter my cycling is restricted to weekends. Most of my cycling is on the quiet local lanes, canal tow-paths and some footpaths and bridle-ways (tracks mainly used by horse riders - hence bridle - nothing to do with young ladies in large white dresses J ) My main bike is a Dawes Galaxy - a very sturdy tourer about 15 - 20 years old.
For my tour of India over Christmas & New Year 2001-02 I bought an ATB in Delhi - a Hero Devil, a five speed brute - its so beautiful that I haven't got a good photo of it J It can be seen in some of the photos of the India 2001-02 trip. For my 50th birthday - and for my Moroccan trip - I bought a Specialized Rockhopper - nice hardtail - and plan to significantly increase my off road cycling. I used to live in a charming little village - Chapmore End in Hertfordshire - click here for more information on the village and my local rides. Now I have moved to Northampton. Click here for more. I have many interests. Two are Cycling and the Arsenal Football Club. I have had a season ticket for many years and support the Arsenal at all their home games. (Remember we are talking Football here - sometimes called soccer (which is short for Association Football to distinguish it from that other great football code - Rugby Union Football (not the strange game played in the colonies called American Football)).

Arsenal are one of the most successful clubs in England. They are the Premier League Champions and FA Cup holders and currently leading the Premiership (the domestic league) and have now qualified for the second phase of the Champions League (the top European Club Competition). |
