Without Carl, ROCCC just wouldn't be the same. The man with the gloves for both Saturday and Sunday XI's he is the glue that keeps the whole thing together. He bats anywhere, from opener to number 11 and is never happier than when facing fast bowling on a dodgy pitch. His batting may not always be the most textbook of styles but his eye for a bad ball has seen him consistently up among the clubs top scorers.Behind the wicket, Carl is excellent at taking the catches and stopping the byes while his quick glove work has sent many batsmen back to the pavilion.
Sometimes you wonder whether Carl would ever like to play less cricket and spend some more quality time at home with his family, at about that point Will and Ed turn up to run riot and you realise why. He is always the first to volunteer for anything that might get him away for a few hours. Thankfully his family's loss is our gain as when not playing Carl is found, rather helpfully, serving behind the bar. |
