About CCSO CCSO Homepage
The Orchestra

CCSO was formed in September 1981 and gave its inaugural concert in Llandaff in January 1982. We perform regularly at Llandaff Cathedral and have also appeared in Cwmbran, Ystrad Mynach, Newport and Porthcawl. For the last few years we have also performed major choral works with the Mountain Ash Choral Society. We play four concerts a year, usually in February, May, July and November.

Since 1989 the Orchestra has been conducted by Martin McHale who regularly invites soloists to perform with us. Recent soloists have included Kyra Humphries (Brahms' and Barber's Violin Concerti), Stephen Marsden (Hummel's Bassoon Concerto), Angus West (Mozart's 2nd Horn Concerto) and Gareth Jones (Shostakovich's 1st Piano Concerto).
