A Question and Answer
Session
The following formed part of a seance held
by the NAS with the physical medium known as Lincoln. The communicator was
Magnus who spoke on behalf of a group of souls in the Spirit World who call
themselves The Diamond Group. Magnus has said previously that he had been a
financial director of a large publishing company before passing on about ninety
or so years ago. He often speaks with regret of the very materialistic life that
he led and tries to encourage others not to make the same mistake that he made.
It is usual for Magnus to communicate near the beginning of a seance during the
period whilst energy is building up to allow other types of phenomena to occur.
This transcription was made by Heather and Lew Sutton, and been edited to remove
extraneous comments or statements.
Magnus started by emphasising the importance of conversation. "I think
by conversation my friend, one becomes accustomed and better acquainted with
people. It is only by the words that are given to you by others whether you can
judge their wisdom or their folly."
Question: How do you see us Magnus?
"I think that we have answered this on many occasions but I should be more
than happy to give you the opinion of the Diamond my dear (note:
"Diamond" is the name of the group in spirit that he represents). You
appear to us to be somewhat like ghosts. I shall explain to you what I mean by
this. There are many of your side of life that do not consider us to be a
reality. Would you be surprised if I said to you that there are many of our side
of life who do not conceive of earthly existence to be a reality? Therefore for
those of us who move into the vibration of the earth plane, you are somewhat
unreal to us".
Question: Magnus does it take a long time to come and see us? How do you
come?
"It is a matter of harmonisation, of adjusting ourselves to the best of
our capability, and of course, relying upon you good people and of course to
some degree, our link. The energies will be suitably altered from your side of
life that we may harmonise with you. Of course under circumstances where we are
required to instigate production of the ectoplasmic substance and the body of
the link, we can not always be entirely sure that the energies that are created
of your side of life and of our side of life will be suitable for the production
of the ectoplasmic substance in which we may be able to make our presence known.
Therefore if you could engage upon one of these seances and the results are not
entirely satisfactory, do not despair my friends. It is not always within your
capability or entirely within our capability that we can create a satisfactory
vibration, a satisfactory energy. But none the less my friends, as you gather
together and you call upon spirit, you call upon the energy of life. If
manifestation that you so patiently sit for does not transpire know that the
power of love, the power of God, the power of spirit, none the less moves among
you.
I shall give you a demonstration my friends" (The trumpet lifted up into
the air). "You are my friends impressed but in itself what does this
prove?" (George Cranley, an NAS officer present at this seance replied that
"....it proves there is an intelligence behind it".) Magnus continued:
"In itself this proves very little, it proves something that should be
logical. That energy will move energy. All things are energy. Your men of
science, if only they were honest with you and themselves would tell you that
this is a fact of physics" (The trumpet lowered and then moved off towards
the cabinet housing the medium).
Question: I understand you cannot hear yourself speak although you can
hear us?
"Yes that is indeed so" Magnus replied.
Question: Has anybody presumed to play a tape of yourself back to you?
"I have indeed heard audio recordings of my voice. I never sounded
anything like that you know - not when I was upon the earth plane!" At this
point Magnus pointed out that not many of the people whom he has helped to
communicate could recognise or were aware of what their own voice was like
anyway.
Question: Would you please give some message to the young people of this
world in what they ought to do because a lot them have lost hope.
"If your youth have despair of your world, then I would have to say look
what you are giving them. My friends, love of the sort that comes from our side
of life is without question, to the best of our abilities, and within the
energies of God, we will continue to give our love to the earth plane. But
remember my friends, your plane of existence is a plane of spirit as much as any
you shall come to or progress to. You look towards our state of existence as the
eternal paradise. You live in a state of paradise, you live within an
environment that has been created by God. That is paradise. If it is not
paradise, if your young despair, if your middle aged despair, if your elderly
despair, remember each must take responsibility for the plane of existence they
occupy. Take responsibility for your plane of spirit, your earth world. Know
that for the time that you reside within your plane of existence it is your
responsibility.
Look towards your sick, your poor, those that live in degradation and poverty
and fear and know - I am part of the responsibility of this. Do not believe that
any of you are so small that you cannot make a difference. By the power of love
you can move mountains. There is nothing that the human spirit cannot
accomplish. It is a matter of belief, of faith, of knowing that as God is in
your plane of existence so God is with you. You can live in the light of God.
You can live with God. You can be as God would dictate. Live within the light
and the harmony or you can turn away from God where there is nothing but
darkness and in darkness there is fear and despair.
Amongst those of you that profess the Spiritualists' way, you speak of personal
responsibility as a principle. Personal responsibility does not mean that as an
individual you must take responsibility for everything that you do as if you are
the be all and the end all of the universe. Personal responsibility means that
you must take your place and accept your responsibility within life. To know
that you have a responsibility to conduct yourself in service to life, to those
that live within your environment whether they be of human kind or of animal
kind, the vibrations of your earth plane that you do not necessarily see.
Do not my friend I most respectfully say turn not to us and say give us a
message of hope. Take responsibility for the plane of existence you live within
and give your own message of hope. Look at your world.
Look at the areas of darkness and despair - of fear and hatred and say loudly
and clearly and in the light of God - let this be no more. Play your part
in ensuring that it be no more. In your days my friends, if you heal one person
by word or by deed or by action they in turn can be inspired to heal the next
and the next and the next and harmony shall become infectious and all shall
become infected. Would that not be a wonderful disease for everybody to
have?".
Question: How are you aware of God in your world?
"You may know my friend we have spoken on many occasions and I now
hopefully consider you to be my friend and I hope that you consider that I am
your friend. As you know that it is our custom when we depart from your company
to bless you by saying that within your understanding may God bless and keep
you. We are all individuals and come to realise, come to know my friends, that
God is in all things. Therefore if you say to me how do I perceive of God, I
perceive God in everything."
Question: Is there a power or a force (of God) that you feel in your
world?
"The nearness, the closeness, the all consuming all detecting energy of
God is possibly easier for us to perceive of our side of life, that is in
accordance with the vibration that we exist within my friend but then my friends
you can conceive of God in your vibration. I shall give you a task my friends,
something you may all undertake. Do you wish to participate in this experiment?
(A chorus of "yes" replied). On this day when you leave this place,
leave this building and go to the nearest plot of land where grass grows. Look
down at a single blade of grass and know that there is nothing within your
capability that could create something so perfect. Once you have done this hold
before you your hand and know that with all our medical knowledge, all our know
how, there is not one of us that could create a body so intricate and perfect.
Then you shall know, then you will see God in all things.
There is one who resides upon the earth plane who will tell you, if you choose,
if you care - and I do very much suggest that you do listen, he will tell you
that God is in all things. He will even go so far as to say if you believe, you
will know that God is in you, as God is in everything. If you wish my friends,
if you accept that God is in all things, if you go against that which you know
is love and light, if you go against these things are you not being as a disease
in the body of God? If you live in harmony, life shall flow, if you live in
disharmony you shall be as a disease and as in the body diseases must be
eradicated.
Therefore my friend in returning to your kind enquiry using your own words I do
not suggest that you use my own, go amongst your people, go amongst the people
of your earth plane and tell them to turn to God, turn to light. There they will
find hope, there they will find love. There they will find harmony. There is
nothing synthetic, nothing man-made of your earth plane that will bring
happiness, that will bring contentment. In God all these things are so and when
you turn to God, turn to God not the words of your fellow men but try to explain
God. It is our intention to inspire in you on every occasion that we come to
find God for yourself.
Know God for yourself, let your church be your life, not a building, not a
structure, not a priest in elaborate and rich robes. For know that priest that
stands there, although in his heart he may believe that he is a good man and
there are many good men of the cloth, but know that all their finery and riches
of their church have been obtained upon the despair of many. Make your life,
make your existence your church and find God within all that you encounter, but
mostly in yourself. I shall say no more on this matter."
Question: There is nothing, nothing that is man made. Everything has come
from God in the first place?
"Oh very good my dear, very good observation. Of course you speak the
truth. You can upon the earth make nothing that has not been provided by God.
Better if be that you use it for honourable intention. I do say to you have your
science, have your technology.
But science and technology that is without God is worthless." The next
question concerned our responsibility implied by the last answer. However Magnus
interrupted the questioner with: "If you consider it to be a responsibility
then you have missed the whole purpose. It is not a responsibility. It is a duty
and all should be in duty, in service to one another. If you consider it to be a
responsibility then other words come into play such as burden, task. Accept this
to be your existence. You can be more than the sum of your service to your
fellow life. For unless you are in service to life, I most respectfully say, you
are nothing. You are merely the sum of your own self importance and I do not
mean that disrespectfully sir. For I know that this is not your attitude or
concept. But words are very powerful things my friends. Just as I tell you to
guard your thoughts well, I tell you to guard your words well." Steven
Turoff (a psychic surgeon who also follows Sai Baba's teachings) quoted the
following relevant words: Duty without love is deplorable; Duty with love is
desirable; Love without duty is divine.
Magnus continued: "I think these words are most admirable. I was to say
guard your words well and your words have meaning. For as I have said to many of
you in this very room, words are often not enough. Words are a tool that you use
that cannot always explain, cannot always convey the spirit. Therefore you must
use all of your faculties. If you speak spirit then think spirit. If you think
spirit, speak spirit and if you think and speak spirit ensure that your body
behaves in the manner that you profess to think and speak."
Question: You say that there are people on your side of life who do not
believe in the earth life as there are earth people who do not believe in your
side of life. Does that mean there are spirits over there that have not lead an
earthly life?
"Don't misunderstand my words. Of course they know that the earth plane
exists but they are so far removed from the earth plane it is not a place they
would wish to return to. Now I don't wish to upset anybody but you know there
are lots of you who could ask "why doesn't my loved one come back to
me?". It is a matter of desire, ability and need. They love you no less if
they do not desire to return. They love you no less if they do not have the
ability to return. They love you no less if there is not a necessity to return.
For return in itself is a word that is inadequate. Love is eternal. If you
build, if you create bonds of love in one plane of existence and one of you
should depart - should move into another plane of existence - that love remains
eternal.
Therefore use all your faculties and comprehension of your loved ones that comes
to our side of life. Just because they do not speak it does not mean they are
not present. Just because you do not hear them does not mean that they do not
speak to you.
If you love - if you have love, then love will last for all eternity. If it is
possible, to create certain conditions then your loved ones will come to you and
those of us who take upon ourselves what we may to make it possible that loved
ones may speak to you by the power of God. If it be His will, we shall make it
possible for their voices, their presence, and their loving touch to be known
once again within the environment of the earth plane.
Question: Do you come to speak to us for personal desire or do you come as
a representative of your world?
"I am a voice for a collection of spirits who call ourselves The
Diamond. I am merely the voice, I try to convey my personality to you. I think
that is somewhat of a necessity on these occasions.
I do not speak entirely for myself and I have no desire to express my own
personal feelings. If I spoke of my feelings, of my time upon earth, I think you
would find me a most deplorable chap to speak to. Upon my time on the earth
plane, I lived a life that I would not wish upon any of you. I lead a deplorable
life. I had no love or concern for anyone. I passed into the state of spirit
when I was confronted with myself. If you paint a hideous and ugly picture it is
very hard to look at, you know. I then set myself the task to learn and to
comprehend and come to understand this thing that had eluded me all of my
earthly life - the emotion of true love, of unconditional love.
My sole purpose for coming amongst you again is that I would save you having to
confront a hideous picture. So that when you pass to our side of life your
knowledge, your acceptance of love will ease and aid your progression."
Better it be that you comprehend and understand love now in your plane of
existence that you reside within now so that when you come to our side of life
your knowledge, your acceptance of love will ease and aid your
progression."
Question: What is the whole point of our existence? Is it a trial? Why do
we have this life and not your life? Why are we in the earth plane rather than
in the spirit lands?
"Not all of spirit, that you would call human spirit that walks upon the
earth plane, resides or even enters into the earth plane. That is a matter that
we would have to discuss in great depth. Well I think that some of you know
this. I know this to be so.
There are those of you that have influences, friends on our side of life that
have told you that they have not walked the earth plane, but nonetheless they
are human spirit - this is indeed so is it not?" (Many present answered
"yes").
This last question was only partly answered. Magnus obviously considered that a
full answer would take up much more time than was available.
