What Happens At Scotstoun Woodies Meetings
All groups meet at diffent times on Tuesday evenings during term time for an hour. The children take part in age
appropriate activities including games (with an emphasis on co-operation), craft activities, singing, cooking,
speakers from other organisations, walks and orienteering, conservation work... - anything really.
The parents tend to have an organising meeting at the start of term that prepares of a rough outline
At the first meeting the older children (Pioneers) decide what they want to do for the rest of the term.
Most groups have a few leaders with all parents helping out on a rota basis.
Scotstoun Woodies organises some camps every year usually including:
- Spring/Early Summer - Camping trips away from Glasgow for the older kids (Venturers and Pioneers) supervised by a few Leaders
- Early June: Family camping trip to park near Glasgow (e.g. Finlaystone, Mugdock)
- Late September: Activity weekend at Scout Centres (Auchengillan, Lapwing Lodge)
- Late November: Youth Hostelling weekend (at Rowardennan YH on beautiful Loch Lomond)
