The new vows

(updated 31/10/2008)

These vows are said after the ring has been removed from the water, and is being placed on the finger.

Firsts vows

"Even though I can not possess you,  you belong to me
I pledge to you that yours will be the name I cry aloud in the night,
I pledge to you my living and my dying,
I shall be a shield for your back and you for mine,
I shall not slander you, nor you me,
I shall care for you as I care for myself,
I shall honour you, as I honour myself"

Seconds vows

"Even though you can not possess me,  I belong to you
I give you that which is mine to give,
I shall serve you in those ways you require,
I pledge to you that yours will be the name I cry aloud in the night,
I pledge to you my living and my dying, each equally in your care,
I shall be a shield for your back and you for mine,
I shall not slander you, nor you me,
I shall honour you, above all others"

These new vows are based on a Celtic Wedding Vow by Morgan Llywelyn

The old vows

I've placed a copy of the old vows, just for the sake of history. Please use the new ones listed above

Firsts vows

“I am your first, I take control, I will care for you as I care for myself, your will is mine.

Seconds vows

“You are my first, I am your second, unto you I give you my will and unto you I give control, unto you I give you myself, I will obey your orders.
