What suprised Angua
the most was that it was warm. So very warm, a tangible sort of warmth that
she could wrap around her and loose herself in forever if she would just let
go, just let go, just let it slip away, don't fight it, give in to your feelings.
But it was dark, and quiet (but oh so warm. No, she had to fight it. She had
been through quite a lot recently and she sure as hell wasn't about to just
fade out, she was going to come back like an avenging werewolf nightwatch
angel and then she was going to kick some ass! She was not a happy bunny.
With the thoughts of anger welling up in her, her vision began to reform and
she saw figures, one was very familiar, another was very old, another was
very, very tall. She heard voices:-
"Look, look, she's coming back"
"Well? What are we going to do about this?"
"WE ARE GOING TO DO NOTHING."
"Nothing?! How can we do nothing?!"
"WE CAN DO NOTHING UNTILL SHE RETURNS"
Ah! That's it, there she was! With that, the figure of Angua manifested itself
into a solid, unreal form.
"It's no good, if I go back, I don't think I will be able to return." She
said, breathing heavily. Carrot helped her keep her balance. He looked at
Death.
"What's going on? Why is this happening?" He asked in a manner that was unhealthily
calm for a man who was watching his girlfriend fade in and out of existence.
"SHE'S LOST" he stated
"I'm not lost, I know exac....." But another wave of unreality washed over
her and she had to summon all her strength to fight it.
"YOU ARE, THE UNIVERSE THINKS YOU ARE DEAD, YOUR A LOST SOUL."
"Well you just damn well tell the universe that I want a stern word with it!"
She barked.
Death brought his gaze to bear on the visage of the girl and the room fell
silent. Blue fire glistened from the edge of nothing in his eyes.
"DO YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT?"
Something told the assembled audience that he wasn't joking. Angua began to
feel despair.
"But why?," she asked "why, I haven't died, its not my time!"
"INDEED, I SUSPECT YOU HAVE BEEN DISPOSSESSED"
"Dispossessed?" asked Khyla Stibbons, who felt she should at least try to
make a contribution.
"SOMEONE ELSE HAS HER BODY."
The quiet was tangible; this was a moment of truth so cold as to chill even
the universe itself into shock. It would take some very impressive lines to
break this silence.
"Yeah, that'll probably be Nobby, everyone says he has the body of a twenty
year o..." Carrot stopped.
The universe had expected something more grand. It wasn't impressed.
"NO," Death said patiently "I MEAN SOMEONE HAS CONTROL OF HER BODY'S MIND.
ITS NOT ALLOWED, THAT'S WHERE I STEP IN."
If Death had a Stetson cowboy hat, this would have been the time when he would
have prodded the rim up with a cigarette. Albert was on his feet in an instant.
"Now see 'ere Master, lets not get into..." He shouted "ALBERT, SADDLE MY
HORSE."
"...No I will not saddle the damn nag! I won't let you do something stupid..."
Albert protested as he headed for the stables.
"AND BRING ME MY SYTHE"
"...You ain't listening, I'm not doing it! I will have no part of this..."
said Albert, handing Death the glistening blade.
"THANK YOU ALBERT" Albert stopped.
"I hate it when you do that!" He screamed
"NOW, YOU," Death pointed to Angua "COME WITH ME"
and he stalked into the darkness. Angua followed so did Carrot and Khylah
felt compelled to follow.
"It's not bloody democratic!"
Albert gave up and slumped onto a chair. He sighted a movement out of the
corner of his eye and in one quick movement, he brought his hand down on the
Death'o'Rats tail.
"Oh no you don't," he announced "I'm not letting you go off and find some
bloody half wit to do his job while he's gone!"

Jhasi was becoming
impatient, he walked up and down the room aimlessly waiting for Kylah and
Angua to return.
"It's been over 6 damn hours now! Why are they taking so long?" He muttered
through gritted teeth.
"Mmph?" mumbled Ridcully, "You're not still time keeping are you, lad? It's
getting....tedious...listening to you saying the same flipping thing every
half hour." Jhasi suddenly glanced at an hourglass, his eyes widened remembering
something important.
"Oh hell!...I have to go....I will return soon." He rushed out of the room
and through the University gates. The Archchancellor picked up a small piece
of paper that had been dropped in the rush. "Hellfire!" exclaimed Ridcully,
"This boy is in debt with the Assassin's Guild!"

"What the Disc are
we supposed to do now?" moaned Kylah. This was really becoming a bad week,
she was currently located in Death's Domain with an ancient butler, an idiot
from the Watch, her pathetic brother and a skeletal rat.
"We wait." said Albert as patiently as possible.
"But they could be gone for days! There must be something we can do....I'm
going mad here!"
"You chose to come here!" snarled Ponder, "You came of your own will. Do you
really think I'm enjoying this? Do you honestly believe that I would stay
here given the choice? I was doing important calculations using Hex. Then
this big oaf comes along, and here I am!"
"This is not my fault." said Carrot mildly. "I don't know what happened...."
"Erm, Albert?......Will Carrot and Ponder remember being here?....Will I?"
asked Kylah calmly.
"Oh, you will remember right enough......They won't. As the young master said,
you came here because you wanted to; they didn't."

Through the busy street
of Anhk-Morpork, an individual that for the time being we must call Angua
glided. In step beside her was a girl that we must also refer to at present
as Kylah Stibbons. But their minds were of other people (if indeed, they were
people) and unlike the former souls that inhabited these bodies up until several
hours ago, these new minds were, to put it as majestically as possible, dead
evil. But "Angua" was not at all happy.
"The Commander of this city's police force sent me to bring your host before
him, naturally I could not allow this to happen, so I was going to have to
dispose of you," And she turned to "Kylah" ",And then you decide to take her
and ruin all my fun!" She complained "Kylah" stopped inspecting her hair.
"Do stop complaining sister dearest, I really didn't have a choice, this was
the only female body inside the University." She said
"There are many maids in the University, one of them would have done." said
"Angua"
"Oh but this one was unoccupied, its so much more artistic this way." and
with that "Kylah" ran forward and danced through the streets giggling. "And
besides," She called back "This one is much more pretty!" People darted to
avoid "Kylah" as she spun and pirouetted along the street laughing.
"You assume too much." muttered "Angua" as she looked on with disapproval.
Her sister was a little to eccentric for her tastes. She caught up with her
in the middle of the crowded square and pulled her into a side alley. "Stop
acting like a mischievous child!" She scolded and "Kylah" calmed down. "Now,"
She continued "Tell me again exactly what you told that feeble, weak excuse
for a boy, Jhasi, about your departure."
"He's not that bad, stupid perhaps, but I think he is sweet." said "Kylah"
"You preference in men doesn't concern me, answer my question." Demanded "Angua"
"I told him that you were taking me to see whoever was in charge and that
we would be back later. Hey, isn't that what you told the fat man? Looks like
I did good!" "Kylah" said and giggled.
