"Okay I don't see any problem with
that." Said Nash, nodding. He turned to the recruits and said. "Okay.
You all know Detritus. He is going to take over the rest of this training
session. The inside of the room was quiet, Nash smiled as he began to cool down. He walked past row upon row of lockers each with a brief description of the owner on the front. He stopped and looked at the locker in front of him it read:
He read the words and then
opened the door, he took out another towel and used it to dry his hair
and then ran it over his face and through his goatee beard. He was sitting
in the quiet of the changing rooms, he breathed deeply and his lungs filled
with the smell of home cooked food and his stomached rumbled loudly. He
quickly changed clothes into civilian garb and moved out of the door into
the street outside. Outside, Nash closed the door
to the Changing rooms and turned and looked about. As he did so He saw
a light glint of metal form an alley opposite the guardhouse. Carefully
he crossed the road.12
Looked about and darted round the corner and into
the alleyway. Constable Visit was doing the
final proof read on the pamphlet in the quiet of the office. Every now
and again he heard thuds and cheers from the training ground. He stood
and walked around the desk and to the window. He looked out into the Busy
Street.13
After a few seconds of watching the world he turned
and looked away and moved back to his desk, but as he did so he heard
a guttural scream come from the alleyway opposite the guardhouse. Visit
ran outside shouted something at Detritus and soon they were both stood
around the corner from the alley, Detritus with he hammer and Visit with
his pamphlets. ***** Kylah looked angrily at Jhasi,
***** Angua sat in Carrot's room
watching the two almost lifeless figures. She noticed the atmosphere in
the room change somewhat, and went over to them. ***** Seated in the Ankh-Morpork Curry
Garden, Death, Ponder and Carrot regarded each other with veiled suspicion.
Of the three, the two with the closest relationship were Death and Ponder,
in that they had met before. Much to Ponder’s surprise, they were served
immediately and without any sort of surprised reaction. Carrot, of course,
was used to being served fast. When the meal came, Carrot tucked in and
Death made his disappear just as fast. Ponder, however, picked at his
food. Death looked absently out of the window.
