The Bretonnian Open
2503
It was some years before 2503 that a Blood Bowl tournament
was held in Bretonnia. But this year, after a royal command from
His Royal Highness Louen Louencouer, the Colleges of
Heraldry organised an Open format tournament.
Sign up to the tournament was
disappointing,
with only four teams entering qualification, though two
of those were brand new rookie teams. The College of Heraldry
were slightly
unnerved by the disorganised, un-heraldic club badges of
the entrants; what with colours placed atop colours, metals placed atop
metals, and a plethora of spikes and blood drops making
emblazoning the emblems a difficult proposition, it was
unclear if Bretonnia was ready for the anarchy and
excitement that a Blood Bowl tournament brings. On the
positive side, every match was a roaring success, and it
is to be hoped that the next tournament held here will
attract more teams to the country.
In the end, the same tie that opened the
tournament closed it out in the final - both rookie
teams, the Karak Vlag Wanderers and the Ice Raiders, had
beaten veteran sides in their respective semi-finals but
in the end, the resilience of the Dwarfs saw them
through a hard-fought deciding match.
