Icknield Road Club
COMPOMOTIVE WHEELS

Welcome to the Icknield Road
Club Website

We are a cycling club based in Silsoe, Bedfordshire, of about a hundred members. The club is involved in time trialling, cyclo-cross, road and track racing, social activities, youth hostelling weekends and other events. We provide on and off-road activities under the supervision of experienced cyclists and qualified coaches and work with local schools to deliver Go-Ride cycling activities following the British Cycling plan. If you want to ride with an experienced yet sociable band of riders, who will still wait for you if you puncture, then ride with the Icknield. Come along to one of our Tuesday evening club nights or turn up at a club run to find out more.

Icknield in the USA

This news was just received from Eric Walthall yesterday, friend of the late Gareth Evans. Keep up the good work.

"I finally got back into competition this weekend.  I rode in the Kansas City Cyclocross Series, Veterans Cross Category 4 Mens race.  Icknield didn't do too well.  43rd out of 49 riders.  Very tough, first time on the cross bike. I think I averaged about 95% of my max HR for 38 minutes."

Tim Davies records another PB

Tim Davies reports that in the Team Economic Energy E2/10 on Saturday 10th July on the course near Newmarket in cloudy but light winds he recorded a time of 21:29 - a whole minute off his previous best (see pic below). "The fastest on the day was 19:18. Conditions looked poor but fortunately the stronger winds did not come through until the evening. The return 5 miles was great averaging over 30mph with a cross to tail wind. I was chasing Roger Porter from St Albans and was just catching him on the finish line. Neil Allonby took part, but I left before his result came in, I guess he's done a "23". There were quite a lot of "21s" and the fastest tandem recorded 18:55!"
