Without doubt the highlight of the year was the superb ride of Steve Hunt who finally broke the 30mph barrier in a 10 mile event when he recorded 19mins 39secs in mid June to set a new club record. He also set a new 30 mile record with 1hr 1min 22secs. Other record breakers on Tandem were Chris Morgan and Alan Davies at 10mile and 100mile, Richard Noon and Crawford Dunn at 15mile and 25mile. During the year we had some fine riding by Roger Queen, Nick Pitt, Neil Allonby, Martin Brooks, Karl Kent, Crawford Dunn, Peter Hopkins, Andy Parrish, evergreen John Lee
and youngsters Paul Hamill, Harry Barratt and Alexandria Baines. All these riders represented the Club at a high level.
New Club Champion was Nick Pitt who rode consistently throughout the year and Andy Parrish at last set a new Club Veteran's 12hr record.
The Club had its first Road Race win for some years when Phil O'Leary won a circuit event at Hillingdon. During the year the committee and 2 Club members have produced 6 Newsheets to a high Standard. The entire racing achievements have been reported in the local papers, this put the Club's name in print. On the other side of the scene Roger Day rode many Audax events and set a very high standard when he finished in the London to Edinburgh and back 1400km event.
On the social side we had a good Club Dinner and Presentation in December, a Christmas lunch organised again by Keith Potter and the Christmas Party at the Clubroom organised by Peter and Muriel who also hosted the Club BBQ in their garden in August. Paul Abraham again kindly organised 3 great YHA weekends in various parts of the country that members enjoyed.
