Some of the highlights of the 2004 Club Year were the high standard of promotion for the 5 Open Time Trials and the Road Race; in all these events the riders were very appreciative of the Club's efforts. Steve Hunt again performed to a very high level at 10, 25 and 50 miles and came within 14 sec. of getting under 20 mins. for 10 miles. New Club Champion was Neil Allonby in his first attempt at the longer distances. Andy Parrish who came very close to breaking the Club Vet 12 hr record closely followed him. Another newcomer to the long distance events was
Richard Noon who finished 3rd in the Club BAR. Other Club members who performed at a high standard were Roger Queen, Crawford Dunn, Martin Brooks, Karl Kent, Nick Pitt, evergreen John Lee and 13 year old Harry Barratt in his first year racing.
The Committee and Club member edited and produced 5 News Sheets to a high standard in the year. On the social side we had a good Club Diner and presentation in November, a successful BBQ hosted by Pete and Muriel and a highly recommended Barn Dance organised by Cartl
& Jim Mossop. Paul Abraham organised 3 successful YHA weekends that were popular and well supported. Finally Keith Potter arranged a very enjoyable Christmas Lunch in Silsoe, and Muriel and helpers organised a great Club Christmas Party at the Clubroom.
