Help is needed for this event from about 30 club members.

It should be a more enjoyable experience than standing at side of A1 for a TT for 2 hours. Some of the jobs will be indoors. The helping will not be continuous for all; there will be a break of about 45mins for Marshalls & many other helpers from about 12.15 to 13.00.

Breakdown of help required as follows:

If you cannot manage to help for the whole time, then maybe you can offer for just the morning or afternoon.

Please contact Richard on 01582 883211.

Many thanks, Richard

British Cycling Go Ride Conference

The Club Coaches, Barry, Peter and Richard attended the Annual Conference for Go-Ride accredited clubs on Sunday 5th April in Watford.

The guest speaker was Beijing Gold Medal Team Sprint Winner, Jamie Staff, who has inspired the coaches with ideas and anecdotes that will help the young and older members of the Club.

Go-Ride will become more competitively focussed over the next couple of years and with stronger emphasis on linking the activities e.g. British Cycling’s Regional Coaching to local, inter school and regional competition in all disciplines including Track, Cyclo Cross, Mountain Biking and BMX.

The Icknield Road Club will continue to work closely with British Cycling to provide our young members with access to a choice of cycling disciplines, competitions and opportunities to help run events if they don’t want to compete.

British Cycling has recognised the strength of the link up with Icknield High School and Icknield Road Club and on that basis loaned a number of World Class standard static training machines which will be made available to Club members over summer and provide a similar level of technical data to that which the GB squad are accustomed to.

The next stage in the Club’s development with British Cycling is to become Clubmark Accredited which we expect to achieve by summer this year.

New Members

The Club is looking for new members and in particular under 18s for our Junior events. There will be a series of Saturday morning events for Under 16s starting from Icknield High School after Easter. Please contact Richard Noon on 01582 883211 or richard.noon1@btopenworld.com for more details.
