The
area around Les Costes is a haven for wildlife, expect to see red squirrels
from the balcony, lizards, the occasional black and yellow salamander,
and numerous birds, wild deer and even boar. "We
think probably the best two weeks away ever, a beautiful house in stunning
scenery" - The Pevsner Family August 2007

The surrounding hills, valleys and gorges are criss-crossed with over 250km marked V.T.T (mountain bike) routes. Maps and recommended routes are available. If the local outdoor activities are not enough in half an hour you can drive to Cap Decouverte, a hugh converted open cast mine which provides the biggest skate park in France, Europe's largest dry-ski slope, go-karts, summer luge, zip line, open air velodrome, swimming pool, water-skiing, live music and much more. It's worth at least one day out if not more out of your holiday. For more details visit: www.capdecouverte.com. Also worth a visit is the beautiful, cosmopolitan city of Toulouse approximately 1 ½ hours away or the historical Albi, birthplace of Toulouse L'Autrec. |

For those seeking more leisurely activities the nearby town of Villefranche de Rouergue and villages of Najac, Cordes sur ciel, Figeac and Saint Antonin host colourful markets. Our favourite being the Sunday morning market at St Antonin Noble Val. There are a variety of fetes throughout the summer. Each place provide delicious local cuisine in their many restaurants and cafes. Find out more about the region on www.aveyron.com |
