Soar Valley Soarers 100S

Who would have thought that after two days of continuous rain that the Sunday we were due to fly at Ferry Meadows in the Soar Valley Soarers 100S competition, the weather would have turned out like it did.

I happened to be in the first slot of the day which scared the pants off me.  But there was no need to worry, I went straight into lift and with Ken Tinkler, talking me around the sky I made a score that is the best I have done in any of the competitions at F.M. 7.02 mins.  I was not the only one, Ken himself had an excellent day as did Alan Moreton.

Ken ended the day in 7th position so made the fly off which was good news, and took home some wine and cans of the strong stuff.

Results of the Club members at the end of the day (before the fly off) were:

Neville Warby 1st position with a score of 4000

Ken Tinkler in 7th position with a score of 3787

Alan Moreton 13th with a score of 3297

Jeff Stocking 19th with a score of 2873

Mike Shaw 24th with a score of 2701

Mac 36th with a score of 1958

All this out of a total of 40 entries, so we enjoyed ourselves.

In the fly off the ultimate winner of the event was Sarah Lucas, the organiser!!!  But she is good at finding thermals. John, her husband came fifth.  While our own Ken T. maintained his position of 7th.  Congratulations Ken.
