Just to prove I don't just take bits of bikes and drop them into cars....
This
is me on my old SV650 at Goodwood. The bike has now sadly been sold to pay bills.
Now I have a new toy, a Suzuki TL1000S. Bit of a bad boy reputation this bike and with good reason. Mine has been upgraded with a Penske shock and Ohlins steering damper and it still gets rather lively. It's the engine you see. It's barking mad!
Now I've had it a year the mod fever has started.
I seem to keep fouling plugs so first thing was to improve the earthing to the coils. This apparently helps starting and can release as much as 3 BHP depending on the state of the existing connections and wires I guess. See TLplanet airbox mod for details.
While the airbox was out I thought I may as well do "the" mod to that too. Basically there is a flapper valve in the inlet which opens at around 4K revs. Nobody is sure why it's there but popular opinion points to emissions/noise. It puts a big restriction in the inlet tract so it has to go!
Then I set to it with drill and hacksaw...
Then I sealed it up again with a thin ally plate:
Now I have a slightly better aiflow into the airbox:
