So I put the word out to everyone I knew.......

A week or so later, my mate Adrian was driving around Brighton when he saw one on the back of a low-loader. He left a note on the screen asking to contact him, then the guy turns up. It turns out he was planning to banger race it, but might be willing to part with it.

I called him and £50 later was the proud owner of a rusty but mechanically sound 1980 Escort.

Then I took al the good bits off till this was all that was left:

I finally used the loom, rear axle, front uprights, brakes (calipers were newly refurbished), steering rack and some of the switches. It looks like the propshaft is going to end up pushing my Brother's project forwards. The wheels did the job of proping up the rolling chassis during the build so I didn't risk damaging nice shiny alloys.
