Jan 2006 Catalog
While I don’t publish my latest catalog on the internet, this older catalog is available for you to look through to get an idea of the sort of thing I generally have. Please be aware that many of the games in this catalog will have already sold, and if they haven’t then the prices are not necessarily still valid – the prices are only valid in the month the catalog comes out! However, if you do see something of interest email me and I’ll let you know if I still have it. Also getting the monthly catalog by email is free and without obligation, so why not just ask to be added to my subscription list, or ask me to send you the latest catalog by email?
15-Up, published by Berwick. Box. Box whole but worn.
£2.50
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2 or 4. Country: Unknown,
Duration: 10 mins, Desc. by Andy.
The game is subtitled 'The Exciting Table Badminton
Game'. There are no rules supplied, but
it may well never have had any. Players
use miniature badminton rackets to flip miniature shuttlecocks onto the other
side of the board. There are coloured holes all over the board and which one
the shuttlecock lands in I guess indicates who must play next.
6 Mal 6, published by ASS. Box. Good. £3
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2-6. Country: German,
Duration: 20 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Cards are played in your row on the board and when the board
is full columns are reckoned up - the lowest value in the row having to pay
penalty chits.
Ace Handicap Golf, published by EMS Home Products
Ltd. Box. Good. £7
Designer Unknown. No. players: 1+. Country: British, Desc.
by Andy.
Special notes: Box colour is faded along two sides, and the
base is indented.
Golf game with two large boards, and fairly simple rules
which use a chart to indicate the distance and direction of each shot. However, most unusually a 14 sided dice is used
to determine the result of each shot, with the sides having various letters on
them which refer to the entries in the charts. The game is recommended by Tony
Jacklin, who is pictured on the box.
Addique, published by Quality Games Ltd. Box. Good. £5
Designed by Anthony Page. No. players: 2-8. Country:
British, Duration: 40 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Tile placement game with 48 cross shaped tiles with numbers
1-8 on each arm of the cross. Players lay tiles into a communal layout with the
objective of making adjacent numbers add up to multiples of 9. A scoring sheet indicates the score for each
combination possible. The tiles are
plastic, but very nicely made.
Air Charter, published by Waddingtons. Box.
Good. £7
Designed by Patrick Green. No. players: 2-4. Country:
British, Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: Good condition except for some marks on the
lid where tape has been ripped off
Players operate air-freight businesses in the South China
Seas. Players pick up goods and either deliver them on routine but not
especially profitable routes or if they are suitably placed they can go for one
of the urgent contracts which pay quite a bit better. Running your plane
involves keeping your fuel level right but the more fuel you have on board the
less freight you can carry.
Andromeda, published by Rio Grande. Box.
Excellent. £12
Designed by Alan R Moon. No. players: 3-5. Country:
American, Duration: 1 hr, Desc. by Andy.
Graphics by Doris Matthaus. Very interactive, as players
attempt to trade with a new galaxy. The game is about trading for sets of cards
and using them to upgrade spaceships and try to gain control of the various
planets. While skill and judgement will help there is a randomising mechanism
which resolves success in taking over a space port, but which does make it more
likely you will win the more effort you put in. The game also uses an
interesting card trading mechanism between the players.
Army Of Darkness, published by Leading Edge. Box.
Good. £14
Designer Unknown. No. players: 1-8. Country: American, Desc.
by Andy.
Film related. Ash, the nerd from Evil Dead and Evil Dead II,
now becomes a time-travelling hero, stopping the Army of the Dead from
capturing the Book of the Dead. The game recreates the battle for Arthur's
Castle at the end of the film. Deadites
swarm over the walls trying to capture The Book of the Dead. and the players
take the roles of the characters in the film and search the castle for useful
stuff and fight off the Deadites. Play can either be cooperative against the
game system or one player can control the evil side.
Avalon, published by Kosmos. Box. In shrink. £11
Designed by Leo Colovini. No. players: 2. Country: German,
Duration: 45 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Card game in the excellent small square box Kosmos 2-player
range. The players vie for supremacy
over a row of 11 regions, some of which grant their controller advantages. The cards depict knights and sorceresses in
various colours, and these can be placed next to the various terrains to
reinforce, or to attack the opposing forces there, and thus if successful gain
control of the region. As usual with
this deisgner, the mechanisms are clever and a little unusual - the sorceresses
are potentially powerful, but if countered can give your opponent an advantage,
whereas knights are needed in order attack a region. Finally, winning a battle is not all good news as there is a
potentially a large cost in cards from hand to be paid by the victor.
Babylon 5: 2258 Core Set, published by Component
Game Systems. Box. Good. £9.50
Designed by C Henry Schulte. No. players: 2-4. Country:
American, Duration: 2 hrs, Desc. by Andy.
Babylon 5 game in which up to four factions (Earth Alliance,
Narn, Centauri and Minbari) vie for prominence. The playing area is constructed out of large hexes showing large
areas of space which will be explored and conquered. Victory can be won by military or economic means, and diplomatic
efforts on the Babylon 5 station are important too. The game uses colourful counters, and cards with various effects.
Each faction also has a board detailing its special abilities etc. Starter
packs were also produced to allow extra players to play using additional
factions.
Battle For Germany, published by SPI. Box. Good. £9
Designed by James F Dunnigan. No. players: 2. Country:
American, Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: This is the Decision games reprint.
This is the boxed version. The simulation covers the final
months of WWII, from December 1944-May 1945. A very well regarded game which
rewards skillful play. One player takes on the Western Allies and the other the
Soviet Union. Both players get to use
the German forces to try to hinder their opponent's forces - neat idea. Rules
are also provided for multi-player games so the Germans can be controlled by
one or two extra players. Each hex represents 67km and each turn represents 2
weeks. The games uses 120 counters.
Bike About, published by Ravensburger. Box.
Good, 1 corner taped. £8
Designed by Wolfgang Kramer. No. players: 2-6. Country:
British, Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: Photocopied rules
Children's game (ages 5-10). The board shows a grid of roads
around which the players take it in turn to move one of two bicycles, having
the choice of which way to go at each junction. The objective is to guide the bicycles to the locations depicted
on cards dealt to the players at the start of the game. It sufficient for another player to move a
bicycle to one of your locations - you don't have to move it there yourself. Also some of the spaces have special
actions.
British Towns, published by Pepys. Box. Good.
£3.50
Designer Unknown. No. players: 3+. Country: British, Desc.
by Andy.
Card game, with 44 cards featuring colour drawings of famous
settings in 29 British Towns. The various towns and cities are divided up into
9 sets by region. Rules to a couple of
different set collecting games are included, one being a rummy variant and the
other a Go Fish style of game. The
rules booklet also lists the populations of the depicted towns and cities, and
gives a little information about each place.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Board Game,
published by Susan Prescot Games. Box. Good. £5.50
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2-8. Country: British, Desc.
by Andy.
This is the British board game not the American one. There are 5 humans and 3 vampires no matter
the number of players. Initially you
only know what you are but as the game goes on you find out more about the
other players and uncontrolled characters. Ultimately the good guys and bad
guys will fight it out and whichever side is left with players on it wins.
Bunkered!, published by Wellingtons Ltd.
Box. Good, but 1 corner taped. £2
Designer Unknown. No. players: 1. Country: British, Desc. by
Andy.
A 3-D golf themed puzzle.
This consists of 8 cubes (3.5cm a side) each side showing a section of a
golf course. The objective is to assemble the cubes so that they show the same
golf course twice over the various faces. Comes with a solution sheet.
Cairo,
published by Schmidt Spiele. ca.1975. Box. Good. £14
Designed by Gunter Burkhardt. No. players: 2-5. Country: German,
Duration: 45 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Unusual
game in which players vie for majorities in various building sites beside the
river nile. As the players' ships move
up and down the river their owners get to flick building cubes from the ship
hopefully into the building sites. Each
player has a selection of cubes - most small, but one large and one dice, each
which score differently. If a player
gets sufficient small cubes into one area then a pyramid can be constructed
which will add to the influence they have at that site. When the game ends first and second places
are scored in each site to determine the winner. Rather neat and unusal combination of mechanics which I very much
enjoy.
Campaign Hexagon System, published by Judges
Guild. Packet. Good. £2
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2+. Country: American, Desc.
by Andy.
Role playing supplement intended for use with D&D, but
useful for almost any RPG. The booklet
has 6 pages giving rules you may wish to use for wilderness movement, as well
as tables you can use to generate terrain, movement obstacles, flora and fauna,
as well as ideas for prospecting in the hills.
The second part of the book contains 50 empty hex grids, with a large
(17 small hexes per side) hex shown around it.
The idea is you can map out an area on such a hex grid and then put
these maps together to form a whole world on a large scale hex grid.
Carolus Magnus, published by Venice Connection.
Box. Excellent. £12.50
Designed by Leo Colovini. No. players: 2-4. Country:
Italian, Duration: 1hr, Desc. by Andy.
Players take the role of powerful nobles who are fighting
for dominance over several regions. The playing area reduces as the game
progresses, when adjacent areas combine.
Knights of different factions are played on the tiles from your own
supply, as well as being used to influence the various factions. Castles can be built when you achieve a
majority under your influence at the current location which helps protect the
region from hostile takeover. There is
also quite a bit of luck as your supply of knights is replenished partially at
random, but it still plays well.
Recommended as a 3 player game.
Celtic Quest, published by JKLM Games. Box. In
shrink. £29
Designed by Nigel Buckle. No. players: 2-5. Country:
British, Duration: 90 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Attractively produced game of collecting goods and
delivering them for profit. The game is
played on a board made up of 24 large hexagons, and during the game these can
be turned over altering the routes and the characteristics of the tile. Players
each have a character who gains bonus victory points in different ways, thus
giving each player a different focus.
When goods are delivered the money earned can later be banked for VPs or
spent on improving that player's movement / carrying / trading abilities. Also
quests can be completed for the druids, and these give both victory points and
additional special abilities. Plenty of variety in characters, quests, and
board layout ensure each game will play differently.
Chez Dork, published by Steve Jackson. Box.
Excellent. £7
Designed by Steve Jackson. No. players: 2-6. Country:
American, Desc. by Andy. Special notes: 1st edition
Humorous card game. Players compete to feed their fannish
obsessions and collect games, cards and other geeky treasures in the world of
Dork Tower. (Doesn't sound too
different to the real world to me :-).
Very light, but the cards are amusing eg. 'Embroidered Unicorn Cape' and
'Lost Starving and Itchy' for the LARPers, '1st Season Pointed Ears' and
'4-Foot Model GalactoCraft' for the S.F. fans etc.
Clans, published by Winning Moves. Box. Excellent. £13
Designed by Leo Colovini. No. players: 2-4. Country: German,
Duration: 30 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Clever game played on a board showing a land consisting of
various types of terrain with some (impassable) lakes. There are five clans
whose villages are set up randomly over the board. Players are assigned one of these clans secretly, and then they
must try to help their clan survive through the following years during which
the clans migrate, slowly moving into fewer and fewer regions, and forming
larger villages. Clever play can ensure your clan will do well, but it is best
to be discreet so nobody else knows which clan you represent lest you make
yourself a target. Recommended.
Code Breaker, published by Winning Moves. Box.
Mint. £7.50
Designed by Robert Abbott. No. players: 2-4. Country:
American, Duration: 30 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Previously printed as Genius Rules. This is a very nice little inductive
reasoning game. Essentially one player
is the code master and draws a rule card.
The other players then have to work out what that rule is. The rule involves a repeating order in which
cards may be laid. The cards show
various geniuses from history, split into two time periods and leaders,
thinkers and artists. The rules as they
stand omit a crucial sentence - ask me when you buy it! Recommended.
Combat, published by Palan. Box. Good. £5
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2 or 4. Country: British,
Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: The box is made of flimsy cardboard and so
unsurprisingly is a bit indented due to stacking.
A very very basic wargame - each player has 4 infantry, 2
tanks and 1 general playing piece (standup cardboard pieces), and the board is
actually built into the box base and folds out, with the lid used as a
support. Play involves introducing the
units onto the board onto a series of interconnected tracks, with different
pieces having different movement restrictions.
The objective being to eliminate enemy units by landing on them. Some special spaces perform additional
actions. Movement allowance is determined by dice.

Dungeon Dice, published by Parker Bros. Box.
Box battered and taped up, but whole. £4
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2-4. Country: American,
Duration: 20 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Dice game in which the players try to be the first to tunnel
out of their dungeon cell. To do this
tunnel cards must be collected. 6
special dice showing 5 tools useful for tunnel diggers and one guard (bad) are
rolled and pairs / triples etc are taken aside. The remaining dice can then be rerolled if desired, but with the
risk that any tunnel cards won so far this turn may be lost if the roll is
unfavourable. In addition if 3 or more
guards come up then that is bad news, with the current turn and one additional
tunnel card being lost as well. There is also the option of trying to hinder a
leader by attempting to roll guards to inform on an opponent and steal tunnel
cards from them.

Geomorphs and a set of Outdoor (city) Geomorphs. There are 15 roughly A4 size sheets remaining. The idea is that you can put these square
gridded map segments together to form your own unique city and dungeon segments
with little effort, and then fill them with whatever you wish ready for play.

In addition each turn an additional region is covered by the advancing

resources. The game uses two sets of
cards, one set which earns you stones, but which forces you to assist other
players, while the other set of cards costs you stones to use, but lets you
advance your own position.

Great children’s game, which is also good for adults, and
one of Eamon's favourites. Various fairytale treasures have been lost in the
woods and are hidden randomly beneath tree pieces in the forest. Players move around the board peeking at the
treasures, and when the king asks for a particular treasure the players try to
get to him and also remember where that treasure is. Winner of the German Spiel des Jahres 1982. Also known as

Formel 1 Nurburgring, published by ASS. Box. Good. £13

Special notes: The board has been improved to make the track
more interesting (this can be removed). Includes betting sheets from Top Race
and a printout of Alan Moon's own track too.
Version of Wolfgang Kramer's card driven motor racing game
in which players first bid for cars knowing what cards they have to drive them
with and then race them. The cards generally
have several of the car colours listed and how far each one must be moved. There is plenty of scope for using cards
which waste another player's car's movement points if you play it right. This set has a single track - the
Nurburgring. This game was reissued (with differences) as Detroit / Cleveland
Grand Prix and Top Race (and others too).
Wooden cars. I will include my house rules and analysis of the tracks
from the various games in this family.
Owners of other games of this family may want to buy this for the

but has its own interesting twists. The board is a hexagonal grid with

Reissue of the small run game Pingvinas. Very clever
tactical game in which each player moves their penguins around the board
claiming fish tiles of value 1-3. These
are worth points at the end of the game.
However, these tiles also make up the board and so as they are removed
the remaining tiles get less and less well connected, eventually splitting up
into separate islands. Eventually every
penguin will be left stranded on a single tile and this ends the game. Every
turn there are many things you need to do, but you may only choose one, and so
must select well. Fast to play, and
highly recommended.

Second edition, with English cards and rules. The players
lay out a land using octagonal tiles which provide various resources, and place
their cottages in the square gaps between the tiles. Each round every land tile produces one resource and the players
compete for these, taking it in turn to claim resources in a cunning and very
tactical way. These resources can then
be spent to build parts of the Keythedral for victory points, or in various
other ways to aid your future production or hinder other players. Also some special action cards are available
for purchase and these can prove very useful.
Ultimately VPs are won for parts of the Keythedral constructed and for
unused resources. Nicely produced. Recommended.

Let's Do Lunch, published by Hasbro. Box. Good.
£7
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2. Country: Spanish,
Duration: 20 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: This set was originally from Hasbro Spain,
but has had English stickers applied by Hasbro and English rules inserted,
making it quite unusual.
The game looks from the box to be a trivial children’s game,
but actually it is a tactical game played with dice on a 7x7 grid, and rated
age 12+! Players take it in turn to roll 3 dice with the numbers 1-3 on each,
and place a man anywhere on a column with the correct total. If this encloses
one or more opposing men between yours then they are captured. Rolling 1-2-3
loses your turn and three of a kind gets another go. The objective is to place all
your pieces. The (pretty irrelevant) theme is about two competing tribes of
cannibals, though the plastic cannibal figures are quite cute.

Memory game in which each player tries to find a set of
luggage numbered 1-10. First a 1 must
be found, then a 2 and so on up to 10.
There are more of the lower numbered suitcases and less of the higher
numbers. The luggage tiles are shuffled
up and put face down in 10 groups of 4, each group representing an
airport. Players fly their rather nice
large plastic planes to an airport of their choice where noone else is and may
check for their next piece of luggage there. A nice twist allows you to search
at another player's airport, but they get an extra mini-turn as compensation.
Make Five, published by Zoch zum Spielen.
Box. Good. £11
Designed by Jacques Zeimet. No. players: 2. Country: German,
Duration: 15 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Unusual but intriguing and neat game for two players. The game consists of a solid wooden board
which is tilted at an angle with five slots in it into which round wooden
pieces in five colours can be placed.
One player, Chaos, takes a wooden disk from a bag unseen and chooses
which slot to put it in. The other
player, Order, can then take one disk from the board and replace it at the top
of any slot (the disks roll down to the bottom filling any gaps). Order is
trying to ensure that each row is made up of just one colour of disk, while
Chaos tries to ensure that this does not happen. Points are scored for Order, and then the roles are reversed to
see who can do best. Requires some interesting
decisions. Recommended.

A very unusual game which uses a set of 37 special 'face'
dice. These dice all have faces showing the expressions: beaming, smiling,
normal, amazed, sour and angry. One
large dice in the centre is used to indicate which sort of dice can be moved
each turn, and rather than being rolled it is turned over. The board is a felt mat, showing three rings
of spaces for the dice and a central space for the indicator dice. The objective is to get your six dice to be
turned so that one of each type of face is shown and then move them to adjacent
spaces on the outer circle.

Also published as Aladdin's Dragons in America. This is a revised and improved version of
Richard Breese's rare Keydom. Players
vie for resources by placing some of their workers into the caves to gather
gems using a clever mechanism which allows a little bluffing. Other workers can
also be placed in various locations in the city, which permit the player with
the most senior worker to trade resources, gain magic spells for later use,
improve their position in the turn order sequence, and most importantly enter
the palace, where they can buy artifacts using their hard won resources. These artifacts give additional abilities
and also count towards victory. Very
good game - recommended. I will include a set of laminated English spell cards
with either set.

Rummy
based card game themed on the murders of Jack the Ripper in Victorian London.
Players collect evidence for the various suspects, and meld them or add to
other players' melds on the table. In
addition suspects and victims can be played for extra points and they also
allow extra cards to be drawn. When a player discards his last card points are
tallied, with a bonus for all cards for the suspect who has the most evidence
played against them. However, in a neat
twist, if all the victim cards are played then Jack The Ripper can escape and
whoever plays this card gets a major bonus, but getting caught with the Jack
The Ripper card when the game ends normally is a major penalty.

Yaquinto's only sports game. Non-statistical horse racing
game in an album case. Players place secret wagers on one or more horses and
then players rolls two dice and decide whether or not to move the indicated
horse the amount rolled. Doubles allow a further roll. At the end of the race
bets are paid for horses finishing in the top 3 (of 6). The game requires an
element of bluff as refusing to move any horses which are not your own will
soon make it obvious what you have bet on, and thus you will find noone else
moving them for you at all.
Non-Stop, published by Condor. Box. Good. £9
Designed by Seven Towns Ltd. No. players: 2-4. Country:
British, Duration: 30 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Special notes: Box corners show some wear. 1 plastic train
replaced with one which is very similar.
1 tile missing but replaced with a colour copy mounted.
A neat little train game. A grid of 81 track tiles is laid out and the players have a train
piece each which start in the corners.
The players move as many track spaces as the number printed on the tile
their train started their turn on and they take each piece of track driven over. The idea is to collect more pieces of track
than anyone else. What makes the game
work is that certain pieces can be relaid to enable you to get your train back
to where there are still tiles to claim.
Surprisingly tactical for what appears at first to be very light.

The game comes with 19 large wooden playing pieces (and I mean large -

one of your pieces with a free choice as to which. The objective is to reach
one of the bridges of stars where you will help rescue one of the fairy tale
figures. However the good fairy rewards those who arrive later rather than
sooner, so players try to make their pieces hang back as long as possible,
which can be done as there are various tactical options during movement.

Bermuda with various routes to travel around and then to head off to sea. These tracks then lead to dive sites. Once at a dive site the current player
chooses one other player who will also dive with them, and the other players
take the role of sharks. Play is then
on one of the special dive site sections of the board and the divers attempt to
get to the treasures before their air runs out and before the sharks get them. Game play is driven by dice roll, but with
choices of how to move - especially on the dive displays. The first player to
recover 12 doubloons and get back to Bermuda airport wins.

This

Firstly players need to manage their money well and use it to build a

plants of various types and buy enough fuel to run them. The variety of power plants and clever way
they get auctioned really makes the game unique. The winner is the player who can supply the most cities with
power when the game ends. Highly

Ratrace, published by Waddingtons. Box. Good. £7
Designer Unknown. No. players: 2-6. Country: British,
Duration: 90 mins, Desc. by Andy.
Fun, family game about gaining status. It is a
'round-the-board' game, but has nice elements and works rather well. For
instance you can marry into money and advance quicker than you would normally,
but can you pay the new bills you will now face, and should you land on a
divorce space things get nasty.

Based on a popular computer animated cartoon series from the
1990s. Players are either sprites (good) or viruses (bad), who try to protect
or infect the CPU in which they all live. The board is circular and shows lots
of paths around which the standup playing pieces move. Players need to collect
chips to win. Everything in the game
fits in with the computer theme, down to a rules flow chart on the back
page. The game itself is a roll and

Strategy game in which the players control
parrotfish which patrol ever growing coral reefs. Players get to extend the reefs in the way most favourable to
themselves and can also control which of the types of coral is dominant and
thus can grow over the top of other corals.
The parrotfish are used to claim reefs for a player when it is thought
to be worth scoring. The game uses a
series of clever interlocking mechanisms which take a while to master, but then
allow for a great deal of cunning play.
The box is nearly overflowing with colourfully produced components.

nice wooden box containing 3 colours of real pasta as playing pieces as well as
the more usual wooden dobbers etc.

knocks you out instead! Clearly an

Board game version of the famous and addictive computer
game. The two players sit at either end
of the board, and take it in turn to use a shape spinner which is built into
the game to determine what shape they have to add to their Tetris layout. The two layouts join up at the top, and
initially a central bar sits in the middle of the board, but each time you
complete a row the bar is moved towards your opponent. Completing several lines at once moves it
extra spaces. The idea being to have your opponent run out of space before
you do, so keeping the divider bar on their side of the board is a good way to
do this.

product you think has passed business entrepreneurs by, like ‘Disposable Cats’

people’s ideas. The pay-out is more likely the more people who invest, but of
course, if you have more shares than anyone else, you get paid more than them.
This puts them off investing in your company, helping you in effect, so beware

Very attractive game which uses interlocking near-hexagonal
land and sea tiles, and lots of little wooden ships. The players explore Pacific islands, starting from Tonga. Each island has several beaches and each
beach has several spaces for ships. On
their turn a player adds ships to one island and if a beach is full of ships
those ships sail. This may take them
through dangerous seas where they may all sink, but hopefully they make it to
another island where the ships are put on the beaches, quite possibly forcing
more ships to sail off. The goal is to
have ships on as many islands as possible at the end of the game, especially
those that score most VPs. Quite
chaotic, but great fun.

TV related - based on Only Fools And Horses. Players try to
accumulate £1 million in order to win.
This is done by moving around the board and actioning spaces and drawing
cards. Essentially players buy and sell
dodgy goods and hope to make some money, and when £500 is accumulated it can be
taken to the casino and the wheel of fortune spun (spinner provided) and hopefully
the £1 million jackpot won.

Diplomatic game, in one of this company's album boxes.
Players gain prestige and voting power by persuading the 40 countries on the
board to join their faction. To gain their favour you can use a mixture of
Economic Aid and Arms Aid, but must maintain your influence over two
turns. The basic mechanism is that aid
tokens are placed (plus some decoys) face down and once all players have played
then they are revealed, and conflicts resolved. Conflicts can be political or military. Treaties can be agreed which exclude players from areas but gain
those players prestige, and the Security Council can be called upon to deal
with aggressors and General Assembly meetings can set up boycotts.

Original version (later made by Parker) of this gangster
game. Players' gangster pieces must
negotiate the track on the board, and get safely back to base. The gangsters
are hit if a very large rotating wheel is spun and ends up with one of two hit
men pointing at one of your gang.
Really a parcheesi / ludo variant, but the rotating hit men do make it
great fun.

Fantasy adventure game based on the well known Fighting
Fantasy book of the same name. The players run adventurers who explore a
labyrinth and fight creatures and gain treasure in order to increase their
power. Characters have three stats: skiil, stamina and luck, which affect
combat and the character's chances in various other encounters. The objective is to reach the far end of the
dungeon having deduced which must be the right keys to open the Warlock's
treasure chest. This is done by asking
other players about the key cards they hold in a slightly Cluedoesque way.

Nicely produced game all about horses. In the first phase of the game players draw
tiles, placing horses in their stables, and laying out bridleways and meadows
into a communal layout on the table, ensuring a different setup each time. In
the second phase players ride groups of horses around the bridleways and
meadows with the objective of getting their horses into meadows and to have the
most in the various meadows in order to score points. Points are also scored for horses in stables with sufficient hay.
Comes with 80 wooden horse pieces.

Excellent game, originally published in the U.K. by
Intellect as Worldbeater. Considerable skill required as you plan your route
across the world, picking up job tokens along the way, either one or two such
tokens from each continent, eventually getting to New York. On the way back each of these job tokens
must be replaced and will score points, but there are also bonuses for getting
back to Frankfurt quickly, so one must balance these two ways to score. Very clever movement mechanism.

One of Ravensburger's staple games, very popular as a family
game in Germany. Players race round the world and have to visit a city in each
continent before returning to their starting point. Each player has a different set of cities. The map has 3 types of connection between
cities: train, air and sea, and only one type can be used per turn, making the
route planning more interesting. An
optional rule can be used to penalise a player who rolls 6 too often!

Special notes: For £2 extra I can colour print &

Each player takes the role of a different species, each of
which is best suited to a different environment. During the game populations expand and the creatures come into
conflict. Each species can develop,
however, and become able to operate more effectively in other terrains as the
game goes on. Special ability cards can
also be obtained and used to good effect.
Naturally each player wants their own species to dominate.
