World Cup Football Game House Rules for replaying Germany 2006 ============================================================== * Use the World Cup side of the board, but since an 8 group format is in use print out the replacement group sheets and attach them to the board with blue tack. Similarly you need to replace the group matches as well. * Modify the teams to have points below to represent FIFA rankings prior to the tournament. Group A Group B Germany (19) 1-2 England (10) 2-0 Costa Rica (26) 1-0 Sweden (16) 1-2 Poland (29) 1-0 Paraguay (33) 1-0 Ecuador (39) 0-2 Trin & Tob (47) 0-1 Group C Group D Netherlands (3) 2-2 Mexico (4) 2-2 Argentina (9) 2-0 Portugal (7) 2-1 Ivory Coast (32) 1-0 Iran (23) 1-1 Serb & Mont (44) 0-1 Angola (57) 0-0 Group E Group F Czech Rep. (2) 2-2 Brazil (1) 2-2 USA (5=) 2-1 Japan (18) 1-2 Italy (13) 2-0 Croatia (23) 1-1 Ghana (48) 0-1 Australia (42=) 0-1 Group G Group H France (8) 2-1 Spain (5=) 2-1 South Korea (20) 1-2 Tunisia (21) 1-1 Switzerland (35) 0-2 Saudi Arabia (34) 0-2 Togo (61) 0-0 Ukraine (45) 0-1 This is best done by applying removable stickers to the numbers on the stand up pieces, and create stands for teams not provided by selecting ones with the correct values who are not involved, and use a removable sticker to change the country name. You will also find there aren't enough stands. I used old metal miniatures stands for the extra teams. * When playing cards each player plays one card in the groups and one on another match. Cards are always placed face up in the groups. The first card played for each side in subsequent rounds is placed face up, but the 2nd and 3rd are both placed face down. There is no need to wait until all of the quarter finals matches have been filled before playing on the semi finals or even the final. * As soon as a group has had all 12 cards played on it the group is resolved, and first and second places are moved up to their positions in the quarter finals. This just makes it easier to see what is going on. * Players choose the following number of teams each to support (with points earned by each team being divided amongst the supporting players - no rounding, keep the fractionS!). Make note of the teams selected secretly on paper at the start of the game - feel free to look at your piece of paper if you forget who you chose! 2 players: 3 x 2-x, 2 x 1-x, 2 x 0-x 3 players: 2 x 2-x, 2 x 1-x, 2 x 0-x 4 players: 2 x 2-x, 2 x 1-x, 1 x 0-x 5 players: 2 x 2-x, 2 x 1-x, 1 x 0-x 6 players: 2 x 2-x, 1 x 1-x, 1 x 0-x
