Um Reifenbreite House Rules - Andy Merritt 1997 =============================================== Another game I enjoy, but I found that the game was generally won or lost on who rolled the highest, rather than who played the best. Thus I wanted to reduce the luck factor in the game. To do this I do the following: 1) Use average dice instead of standard d6's (an average dice has an extra 4 and 3 instead of the 1 and 6). 2) This will cause 7's to occur more frequently, which would cause more random event cards to come up - not desirable in my opinion, so instead of looking for a 7 I have an extra (blank) dice which has one side labelled 'Event Card'. Roll this with the other dice and an event occurs if indicated. This keeps the frequency of events the same, but means that they don't always happen on a 7! If you prefer you can alter this to make the events happen less frequently still eg. a d12 with one face indicating an event. Alternative routes: The routes suggested in the rules are: A) Paris-Roubaix (very short) B) Luttich-Bastenaken-Luttich (short) C) Giro d'Italien (Long) D) Tour De France (Very Long) I suggest the following medium length routes if you want a game of intermediate length: E) Start 1, Finish D. Course 1,A,B,C,D Sprint C: 11,8,5 Sprint B: 7,5,3 F) Start 2, Finish F. Course 2,C,E,A,F Sprint: E 11,8,5 You will need to mark F on the board. It is the transition point between the level road after A and the mountain on which B is part way up.
