Galopp Royale House Rules - Andy Merritt 1996 --------------------------------------------- I found the game to be just a couple of notches too random as it stands, so have made a few mods, and its is now one of my favourite light hearted, moderately random board games. Here are my variant rules: * Proceded as normal when bidding for teams, but when down to the last 4 bidders, anyone who passes places their card face up for everyone else still bidding to see - thus enabling them to judge more accurately how good the team is. Continue this until the bidding is resolved. I have one person comment that this gives to much information away when someone passes, but I like this. If you think it gives too much info away then you could have them only reveal the card once the bidding gets back around to them. * Under the standard rules it is completely random what replacement card players get after cards have been stripped off by the loser. Again this adds a very variable random factor into the game. Thus I suggest the following alternative to just drawing a new card each (ripped off from HotW): Each player in turn, starting with the loser of the race, working up towards the winner of the race does this: Take a card and either keep it (only if you haven't already been given a card) or give it to someone else of your choice who hasn't taken or been given a card yet.
