From: hooton@salem.zk3.dec.com (David D. Hooton) Subject: Re: Escape from Colditz Date: 9 Aug 2000 21:54:08 GMT We used several house rules when playing the game at the MITSGS in the early 80s. Among them are: 1. You only have to get 1 prisoner out to win. 2. The German player wins a major victory if nobody escapes within 2 hours (or was it 90 minutes?). Otherwise, the first player out wins a major victory with the second player out winning a minor victory. If only one escapes, the German player gets the minor victory. 3. No "Do or Die" cards are used. (Reid himself once mentioned that they make the game "less intelligent".) 4. German and Allied players are both allowed to block doors. 5. The Allied player cannot get rid of a German on a teleport pad, otherwise the Allies can clear the inner courtyard in short order as we found out in our first game. (This was called the anti-Hootonization rule in honor of the first person against whom this tactic was used.) - DDH
