Jacqui's English Literature Page

Welcome to my English Literature page.

'How the old Mountains drip with Sunset'

How the old Mountains drip with Sunset
How the Hemlocks burn -
How the Dun Brake is draped in Cinder
By the Wizard Sun -

How the Old Steeples hand the Scarlet
Till the Ball is full -
Have I the Lip of the Flamingo
That I dare to tell?

Then, how the Fire ebbs like Billows -
Touching all the Grass
With a departing - Sapphire - feature -
As a Duchess passed -

How a small Dusk crawls on the Village
Till the Houses blot
And the odd Flambeau, no men carry
Glimmer on the Street -

How it is Night - in Nest and Kennel -
And where was the Wood -
Just a Dome of Abyss is Bowing
Into Solitude -

These are the Visions flitted Guido -
Titian - never told -
Domenichino dropped his pencil -
Paralyzed, with Gold -

Emily Dickinson 1830 - 86

Here's my own work Half-baked: A random and not terribly well-organised selection of my own work.
Guest Poetry Band Stand: This is where the guest poetry hangs-out.
Book Reviews The Bookshelf: News, reviews and a small taste of whatever I'm reading at the moment.

Links to other sites of interest:

Victoria Turvey's Jane Eyre page. A very good page about my favourite book. (Link address to be confirmed!)

The Scarborough Conenction. Mick's very well researched site about Anne Bronte.

Zuzu's Petals online literary resource. Just about everything the budding writer could want. (Assuming they were hoping to find it online.)

Guinea Pig Poetry! I think this page will probably make sense only to those who share their lives with guinea pigs!

Stone Soup. A children's magazine, containing stories, poems and artwork by 8-13 year olds.
