Mabel and Elsie

The Guinea Pigs

We are Mabel (I'm orange) and Elsie (I'm Brown and black and white) .

This is were we live - our hutch is kept in this shed during the winter and at night during the summer. It's got a light and a small heater to keep us warm when it gets cold! You can see us scoffing at our food bowl in the second picture!

Our shed   Eating in our shed

In the summer we go out on the lawn in our run - we can eat lots of grass then - hee hee! Sometimes we is visited by our friend Roxy, the cat from next door! She likes to sit on top of the run and chase us about sometimes but we don't mind!

Our run   Mabel and Elsie in the run

We also like to go into Fort Guinea - the last outpost of Piggy civilisation, before the wild frontier begins! However, sometimes the mean ol' human puts us on top of Fort Guinea. Chuffing heck - we don't like it and jump down!

If you want to see us playing in the run have a look at our home movie! It's a Windows Media Audio/Video file and is 1.1MB in size - whatever that means!!! Turn the sound up and you can hear us sqeaking at the end!

Here's a picture of me - Mabel - when I was very young last year, looking into the hutch, next to one of me this summer looking very cute!! As you can see I have umm......grown somewhat since then!!!

"Let me in!!!"   A very cute Mabel

There have been quite a few piggies living in this hutch. The last ones before us were the much-missed Doris and Ruby. Here's a picture of Doris and one of Ruby. Below these is one of them both in the "play nest."

Doris   Ruby

It's a bit cramped in here!

They also liked to play in Fort Guinea. Here is Doris, defending the fort against marauding invaders, and Ruby eating parsley from the ramp. None of us have really used the ramp though - we don't do heights.

Defending the fort   "I'm not going up there!"

Here is a couple of pictures of our late friend, Mymee the Cat, visiting us during the summer. Mymee passed away in November 2000 and went to Devon - well we think that's where she said she was going. Click on Mymee to see some more pictures of her and her sister, Jessie.

Mymee comes to visit...   ...we'd rather eat grass!
