Playing (well) away from home- a one off
at the Mayan Dude Ranch, Bandera, Texas USA. The moustache is by Felt Tip,
the hat was from an Irish guy, the boots were the LEAST ridiculous in a shop
we'd just been to (I had to buy them because I couldn't get them off!) -
they look just about OK in Texas- but in this country- well you get a few
funny looks, but they come in handy when you go to watch other bands-
because they make you taller so you can see better! The guitar was
borrowed- I'd been messing around on another guitar the night before- next
thing you know- up there doing it again! That's NOT my crib sheet hanging
off the microphone stand! |
Yee Hah! Home, Home on the range! HAWK the horse (Mayan Dude Ranch,
Bandera again) with some scrawny character on his back- he didn't pick the
shortest straw that day - or did he?
Check out the Mayan
Ranch Website and see if you can find that photo of him- without me on
his back! Bandera is a real
cowboy town about 40 miles from San Antonio. They still have boardwalks
and hitching rails for the horses! |
Trying on a hat in Bandera Forge. The
bar has a sawdust floor- I think - you couldn't see it because there were
40 years worth of discarded bottle tops on the floor on top of what may
have been sawdust. Blinding evidence that while there- I got converted to
'run on country' and rock music took a bit of a back seat for a year or
so. (Country Music's all right - it's not all "Stand By Your
Man" you know!) However, Get on down to Arky Blue's Silver Dollar bar
in downtown Bandera - they have sawdust on the floor AND spittoons! - and
folks in hats like this! |
